Seems like a good deal keeping in mind other parts needed for install

    Have you checked out Crutchfield
You get wiring and brackets included for your main speakers. 3 1/2 speaker I believe you'll need to buy from other source

Tacoma Beast has some plug and play speakers. Maybe someone can chime in if they tried them.

    +1 for crutchfield
Although I got my front speakers from a friend, they had all the brackets, wiring, and speaker options for the rears. As previously mentioned, you get all the brackets, wires, and instructions for free with the speaker purchase.
Edit: my fronts are discontinued, but these are my rears. For $40 I love them, they keep up with the bassier fronts

+1 for crutchfield, at least as a resource.

Skidooboy, reference to lower volume levels, I believe they mean the quality of sound. Crappy speakers , like stock, sound crappy period. Step up to something a little better, they'll sound better at low volume but distorted when turned up. A higher quality speaker will sound good at low and high volume levels.

Keep in mind, this is 25 years ago. When shopping for stereo speakers, I spent months going to every shop I could find that had them on display to be able to listen to. Reading reviews and opinions of others may not necessarily get you what you want. Not everyone wants the same thing from their speakers. Some may want boomy bass without subs. Some like the high notes. I was after crystal clear reproduction of music, as close to live as possible. I went with Boston Acoustics seperates with crossovers, their entire car speaker line is discontinued. Infinity and polk were both a close second. Fast forward 25 years, there are speaker brands I've never heard of.

The stock speakers are a joke. You'll get it once you see them removed, the magnet is about the size of a silver dollar. Putting anything else in will be a big upgrade. If you do your own research, you'll be happiest with the outcome. Keep in mind, when looking at separates, they will put different cross overs in the display to make them sound better.

Although I'm suggesting to do research, for my tacoma I didn't. Instead I went with my installers recommendations I've been using for over 30 years who's never steered me wrong. He put in pioneer Tsa692c speakers up front. The sound quality is amazingly clear high and low volume. Plenty of bass for me, not enough to shatter the windows. The box says 450 watts max. Keep in mind, the last stereo I invested into had only a true 50 watts per channel and was loud enough to hear 2 lanes away on the freeway. This time, I'm not running an amp because 1, I don't care if other people can hear me anymore, 2, I'm close to 60 and wish to retain what hearing I have left.

@Waasheem do you have the stock stereo or did you upgrade your stereo too? I'm wondering if the stock stereo has enough juice to drive the pioneer speakers you just mentioned?

Yes it does, but they'll sound better with an aftermarket head unit.

Go hit several stores and listen to some speakers before buying. Bring a CD of some very familiar music and use a high end radio on the board as your source.
Then listen. What sounds great to me, might sound not so good to you.

Higher frequencies become directional as well. That being said, you really want to bring the tweeters up on the door so they're aiming at your face somewhat instead of the console.
Stay away from co/triaxial speakers and go components instead.

Do you know how many watts the stock stereo puts out?

Ended up with the Apline ilx-w650 for a new head unit. $300
    PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring interface &
    Metra Grey gloss $84
    Rockford Fosgate all around
    R165x3
    R169X2
    R1T-S
    Total - $140
Crutchfield included all the wiring and brackets for free with exception of the tweeters. Thanks for the references. Wanted better sound on a budget. I think this will do nicely.

I'm happy with them. My head unit is stock and they aren't getting enough power but it was definitely an upgrade.
