Door lock actuator help

Hey guys, was replacing my door lock actuator motors today and got everything back together and working (or so I thought) when i went to open the door from the outside it would not open, with the key fob or the key in the door. After noticing this I double checked all the little wires for the locks and made sure it was all connected and it still wont open from the outside. Any thoughts?

 

Calling it quits. If I cant figure it out tomorrow I'm not sure what I'll do

I don't think it's electrical, I think it's mechanical. I've got a lot of experience with this. The key doesn't unlock and the remote doesn't unlock, the most likely culprit is a mechanical disconnection (little rod with a 90* bend that snaps into a plastic hook type lock, those plastic pieces do break occasionally). After you've verified with your eyes that it is all mechanically connected and it still doesn't work correctly it's the door latch that's bad, but I wouldn't bet on that being the problem.

 

Ya I made sure both ends of the little 90 degree bend part is working correctly, the door still opens from the inside so something isnt working right. I made the sure little metal push lever is correctly attached as well. If it comes down to it I'll take the other side apart tomorrow and see what's up if I can. Another thing I noticed was when I was sitting inside and locking the doors, the dome light would light up when I locked the car, it's only triggered to turn on when the door is open and I unlock it. I just un hooked the battery and will take it all apart again tomorrow. Also posted up in my local forum section to see if anybody could help

 

If your door opens from the inside then it sounds like the outside handle rod connection is not seated correct. Your lucky you can still open it . I replaced the motor in mine and when done I couldn’t open the door at all from either side. Luckily i had the inside panel off and I ended up busting the lock to open the door.i dont think the child safety lock would have anything to do with it but it’s something to check

 

Still no luck.... taking apart the other side now

 

Problem solved. Just my dumbass not putting the clamshell back together properly

That way if I ever have to fix mine. I know what I’m looking for before I open the door up.

 

Super good videos on youtube. Just make sure everything lines up in the clam shell (pic included) before you put it back together
