Hello everyone. I'm a new Taco owner and love it. I've replaced the tweeters and the door speakers with really nice Kickers, but there is almost no volume in the stock radio to the rear. I therefore bought a 5 channel amp to run all speakers, plus a new subwoofer to go behind the backseat, but the question I have is whether or not I can just use the high level inputs on the amp or do I need an lc7i? The only reason I would need the line output converter like that is if the stock radio turns down the bass as you turn up the volume. Some stock radios do, some stock radios don't. I don't know what this one does. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

yeah you should post in that forum, that's where those guys subscribe and watch threads.

if you are running off the stock head unit i believe you do need the converter for volume controls. i don't know all the details here but i did need it. i had 1200W hooked up and no volume, the lc7i fixed it. but i hated that thing, horrible sound quality and still significant volume loss. i went to 8100 Panasonic HU, removed the line converter, and is well now. very. but i understand some wish to keep the stock HU.

If you care about car audio and will not replace the oem head unit, then yes.

If you will replace the head unit, then no.

I was in the same boat. No real information on whether or not you needed a LOC. I finally discovered that it was necessary because of the bass roll off the stock system has. Even with the Key amp, my powered sub just whispered when I turned up the volume. adding the LC7i fixed that for sure. Sounds a lot better now.
