Lol 2nd gens are busy trying to buy odds and ends parts to hold their rusting truck together. 1st gens... my goodness. If you're driving a 1st gen please let it be your third vehicle and not street legal.

3rd gens are in that euphoric sweet spot of denial where they are okay to be $30k in debt yet still spend money on mods...hence the headless chicken race and fragile feelings.

1st gen, best gen! I see them all over and drool over stock ones. I’d take a 1st gen clean title and well maintained over any other Tacoma any day.

....I would take almost any truck with a clean title, maintained and still running at 18+ years old. Lol. 100 series Land cruiser is a better machine in my opinion. :turtleride:

Tonneau cover, Black exhaust tip, blacked out badges and tailgate lettering. Black rhino(glamis)18x9 wheels with +12 offset. LT265/70/18 Toyo Opencountry ATIII. Metaltech 4x4 rock sliders Cali Raised lower grill light bar/mounts TRD Pro Skid, DD Fogs(pro), Ironman 4x4 FC pro lift.
For what it’s worth: I have metal tech 4x4 sliders on my truck. They are extremely well built and beefy. I’m not an engineer, but do know guys in the steel industry who have complimented the quality and design. The shop also provides good customer service and responded quick with any questions I had.
The sliders installed quick, less than an 1-1.5 by myself.
I feel like they stick out just enough to protect, but not enough to feel like they’re getting in the way.
    Hope this helps.

I quote myself and tag @C41n for being a gleaming testament to assertion.

    I’m a terrible mod...apparently.

The shape isn’t that important. As long as it glaring out from the truck. But you don’t want to be too wide or that will get you stuck or wedges between things.

Square is better. The end changers are less critical.

Square is better and no not really.

Yes, but it depends on the terrain you’ll be frequenting on whether that’s really an issue.

Sorry. Can’t help you there. Our lead times are pretty long.

I went with @Mobtown Offroad weld on sliders. Design, reputation, tax time sale, and East coast shop all played a role in my decision.

I have been looking at getting sliders and have questiobs much like the OP had. I went thru most of the threads looking for ideas. I like the idea of the weld yourself set on an economic level, think I prefer bolt on as i can take them to another vehicle easier then weld on and have not heard weld on give superior protection. I would like to install a step to help access for my elderly parent that is removable when out in the bush but believe I will have to create this for myself.

Thanks for posting this and looking forward to some real life examples of what people are using and what they like and don't like.

I personally went with Cali Raised 25 degree bolt on sliders with kick outs. They are well built and were local to me so I saved a bunch not having to ship them

I would love to not pay shipping. We'll see what I find locally. Post a pic of your rig. I had my eye on those sliders a while back.

Quite a few things at this point..
I got RCI 20° bolt-on sliders. They come tomorrow (Monday) and I'll take pictures after I get them on. I got RCI because they were the cheapest for what you get (DOM tubing and kick out are standard, no extra cost), short lead time (mine took less than 2 weeks), and shipping was only $56 to Portland, OR. My only personal concern is that they got the powder coating I added after ordering, but we'll see tomorrow!
