Alright guys, more bike troubles. It looks like the bottom bracket on my cx/road bike is coming out on the drive side. Any recommendations? I’m thinking:
    1. Press it back in (looks like it might not be coming out straight so that might Not be the best move)
    2. Remove and replace the whole thing since the bottom bracket is the original and has a couple thousand miles on it. Bearings still feel smooth though.

what do you guys think? Pic below.

I would just build a cheap bearing press and put it back in straight. Worst case you are wrong and you have to replace the bottom bracket.

That’s true. I ordered the removal tool and I’m gonna go to Home Depot tomorrow to buy some stuff to make a press. I’ll see how it goes. I might just order the BB anyways so I can call it good to go

Every bike i have ever registered requires the original receipt as proof of purchase at registration. Bikes that sell demos as "new for warranty" will provide a receipt for that reason. If you bought a bike second hand, got the original receipt, AND the original owner never registered; you hit the jackpot. If not, sometimes bike companies will throw you a bone if you reach out to them.

    Good luck.

I was on a solo road trip for about a week...
    Didn't talk to many folks.
Started seeing faces in my bike rack at night.
    Shit got weird.

Purtis Creek is a mellow fun place to ride.

Not sure what direction you came from to get there but at Fairfield Lake State Park they have the Dockery Trail that runs along the perimeter of the park. The trail is about 5 miles one way. Has good flow in the back and some good climbs near the front. The Nature Trail is a good ride as well. It reminds me of the trails at Purtis Creek.

Yeah, Horsethief. Fun line, not as gnarly as it looks. Roll the top rock, drop the second.

So here's what I just retrieved from a 15+ year storage. I rode this bike hard and I loved it, but times and things always change.

I'd like any advice as to whether or not it's worth time\money to spend on updates to this bike or just count it a lost cause and bite the bullet on a new ride.

I'd also consider a frame upgrade, but I've been out of this game for as long as this bike has been in storage so I'm assuming my components are laughably outdated.

I’d say both. That paint job is worth fixing it up but I think you would enjoy a newer/modern bike more

    I know, right?

I'm not opposed to keeping it and updating everything in addition to a new bike. Parts I couldn't justify 15 years ago are readily available and reasoably priced now. Plus I came from BMX and the newer 1/11+ setups are attractive to me.

The wife and I went for a mountain bike ride today. It was her first actual off-Road ride. She really enjoyed it which surprised me! Her speed progressed as we rode. Cool.
