That sucks... was hoping you would have had a better experience and come back to say "you don't know anything".

How bad is it and what is the issue?

I would say I’m 85% satisfied with the work they did. With that said I’m very pissed because the only “fab” work they needed to do for me was the cab mount chop. I did all the other trimming before I took it up there. Their cab mount chop was only 1/4 to 1/3 what they should have chopped. It rubbed on the way home from the shop and about pulled me into a swamp bottom on a back road. Scared the shit out of me. I walked into the shop this morning and told them for a shop that has the word “Offroad” in it their work was unsatisfactory at lease. They are use to street queen trucks in king William full of spacers and it pissed me off.

Sorry if this rant is all over. My fingers are on fire.

the question is should I take it up there and see if they can rectify it? They apologized and said they were going to fix it for free. I looked at the welds/looked good but i'm unsure what to do from here. one of my buddies is a CAT mechanic and has a Frankenstein rig but I hate bothering people to do welding on my truck when its what they do for a living.

I just don't know what to do. They said they would fix it today but I needed my truck and couldn't sit in their shop all day away from work. I planned to drop it off tomorrow night and get it back Wednesday.

The welding aspect is the easiest part of the job. The difficult part is actually knowing what needs to be done and how to execute it properly.

Like my old boss used to say, a certified welder may be able to burn any two pieces of metal together but it doesn't mean they know why or how they should be put together.

I guess I will let them try one more time and If I'm not satisfied. I'm getting my money back. Even if they have to pry it out my cold dead hands. SMH. I hate this process.

That is why I suggested hitting the brakes even if just briefly to make sure the process is done correctly. Now it is going to be a shit show trying to go back and fix the initial screw up and you can pretty well say goodbye to your cab mount bushings because of the heat they will likely be seeing if they haven't already burnt them up.

The first cut didn't get near it hardly. That's how small the cmc was they tried to get by with. I was annoyed to say the least.

Finally follow up. The shop fixed the cab mount chop and was way more liberal about it this time. I have looked at other's chops and it is comparable to those. @TacoFMS I most likely will not be getting any more fab work out of them in the future. The truck made it out alive but I wouldn't flip the coin on that again. Will add pictures later.

The lady and I are both working from home but I have been getting away on the property cruising around. The modding continues-new shocks and rear-diff breather kit to do this week.
