I can confirm after installing my OEM tailgate lock that when combined with my remote start the vehicle stays running when I open the tailgate which is an even better feature I was in aware of. But when I open the doors it still shuts off like it was designed to do. Having it staying running allows me to open the tailgate and load up items while the vehicle is running.

So when you reconnect the battery does everything work as before or do you have to reprogram everything?

My radio presets were gone, as well as navigation screen orientation. Other settings seemed to all be preserved.

I didn't loose any preset stations, everything stayed the same.

Mine was PORT installed (photos/post back in thread) on both (GST has been doing this for a while). There are actually three disconnection points (left footwell - wiretaps), just under the body (tailgate area), inside the tailgate (within a foot of the solenoid assembly).

Interesting, I did a recent change where I disconnected. When I reconnected, my radio was on an odd station, but once I hit my buttons everything was back to normal. We should have the same radio (premium). Nothing lost.

Or you’re like me and take your time and do it “nicely”. It took me most of a day to install a lightbar. I’m a bit of a “I want it done right and to look professional”.

I think I'll plug my Noco GB150 in to the OBD port since my wife has a bunch of preset stations and I have no clue what they are.

I have a Pop and Lock but sometimes I can open the lift gate when it's locked. Can one buy just the OEM actuator and replace the Pop and Lock actuator while keeping the P&L wiring harness?

I was looking at first but didn’t see markings. Looked closer and damn it’s small on the edge too

    11070 and 11069
does it need it, I dont know. Like I also mentioned- will I remove the tailgate either, probably not. Do I still want it yes. What’s it to ya if I spend 20$ for connectors/plugs I’ll probably never use or see the outside of my glovebox. I also spent extra on deutsch connectors (instead of some cheaper options) when I wired up my shells 3rd brake light and bought the extra connectors to use as plugs when/if I ever removed it. Just saying this is me :D

ok, so 90980-11070 and 90980-11069 are the Male and Female and you need 90980–09152 as the blank plugs (you will need 4) for the wire holes (aren’t used).

That's because there is no button/sensor letting the truck know that the tailgate is open.

So I ordered everything here from mcgeorge Toyota and got a reply this morning that the male connector 90980-11069 was on national backorder.

did some searching and found corsa technic site and ordered same connector which listed Toyota’s part # as reference/applicable.

I would think your tailgate should be locked as your doors are with the remote start? Are you unlocking it with the key?

@SouthtownTaco come on over. You can get that on my website at www.ktjo4x4.com. Also, for those interested in the Tailgate Opener, I just received a couple messages that have only seen this kit and not mine until after they have purchased this one. I don’t know if the OEM Kit has the connections or not, I just purchased a kit myself so when I get asked questions I can answer them (even tho it is expensive but it’ll give me an idea of what the OEM Kit looks like. I did find it for $130 tho. I’ve been told it looks a lot like mine o_O with just added gadgets to raise the price). However, if the OEM Kit has the following Connections, then it will be compatible with the Opener Kit and your will be able to just go on my Website and purchase the Add-On Kit. If the Actuator doesn’t have these Connections then it will not be, UNLESS, you would like to modify your OEM Kit.

This will be the New Harness, but it shows you the connections you need on both ends as well as the PNP Harness needs to be able to have the Connections too. I wouldn’t want any of you to miss out on this amazing mod or the ones to follow like the Foot Sensor for the Power Tailgate Opener Package

P.S. For those that may ever need another Double Wire Harness Protector in the Future, I will be having these made by my vendor and will have these available for purchase, as well as these will come in my kit eventually. Prior to the Chinese New Years I had this Quoted and we were ready to place the order and then everything went crazy. They will be a lot cheaper than what Toyota is charging people for them which I believe is like $40-$50 or something crazy like that. Just wanted to put that out there. I believe my vendors get back to work next week or the following and then I plan on shipping them a huge package of items when they say it’s clear.

:rofl:The factory whipped it up quick for me prior to their vacation so no complaints from me as just a demo harness so I could see it and approve it, but agree. I think that was the first thing I noticed rather than it looks great and you made it just like I asked and wanted. Us Americans. It’s the small things in life right.
