It never ceases to amaze me that Thor is like 6’7 and 440lbs and still may not win at the Arnold and Kernie is 5’9 and is up there with the giants

He plays it smart and only does what he needs to to win, unless he's injured that is. I really wanted Keils to win though, he's my fave. He beat Thor at every event but deadlift... He is going to be a beast in a few years.

Also Kearny is insane. That's why I give y'all shit always talking "well I lift this at this bodyweight"... There are a lot of other factors, and bodyweight doesn't mean shit lol there is damn near a 200lb difference between him and some of the bigger guys yet they are all the same weight class. He took the American log press record from a guy who was 6'7" 400lbs and he's 5'9" 275 ish.

Yea that was a weird comp. your dude won 4 out of 6 events but still came in 2nd. Doesn’t seem right but deadlifts are king as always.

101,000 bounty is still open on the deadlift tho :anonymous:

4 of 5 events lol it's all about points, and that's why Thor does so well. He knows exactly what position he needs to be in throughout and gets just enough points to win. It really helped him that no one else was able to compete with those top two guys and take points away from him.

Keils deadlift is what got him. He placed so low there that he lost points that would have given him the win.

Sad thing is, Thor can easily beat that, but then his other half of his face wouldn't work. It's a trade off.

Lol he said he's planning to do it at the next comp in April where they are allowing suits. It'll be on a standard bar so exactly like the conditions Eddie did it in.

Andy Bolton has been helping Keilz out with his deadlift. Huge improvement from past years. Going to be unbeatable if he can stay healthy.

He's my inspiration lol we are built a lot alike, nearly same height and we both can move wayyyyyy faster than the fat guys in our classes. When I grow up I want to be just like him lol

If I can get to a lean(ish) 320-330 and still be half as fast as him I'd be pretty happy. Plus is overhead pressing is just insane, so much power.

That’s why you can beat them. It’s harder to be just as strong and athletic then fat and strong. I also think it’s a mental thing. At some point guys like Shaw, Caron and a few other big names just quit moving fast so they lost that gear that martins, Keilz, and even Kearney can pull out of their ass when they need it.

Yep. Strongman is becoming a lot more athletic these days, and not so much about just static strength. Makes it way better for someone like me who doesn't have the best static strength but can move with weight.

Idk man, I think powerlifting is really headed towards the 181-198 classes and the really light weights. The wilks calculation favors lighter weight classes

That’s what I mean. As the sport evolves, there isn’t room for fat people to be competitive in their classes. I guess that excludes the super heavies, but you see what I mean. Name a top lifter right now. Bet they aren’t fat...

Julius is a huge bencher, but he’s not a well rounded (figuratively, he’s physically very well rounded) lifter.

Not 100% on Ray as I haven’t seen much on him lately. You obviously have some big names who are 308’s and SHW, but the vast majority of top lifters are somewhere around the 200 mark. John haack, Sean Noriega, Garret Fear, Angelo fortino, Joe Sullivan, Yuri Belkin.... I could go on for hours. All pretty well rounded and strong as fuck.

275+ you have Brandon Allen, Andy huang, the lilliebridges, ray, Julius, and a handful of others. But the sport isn’t as focused on the big dudes anymore like it used to be.
