This one is very close to the dunes, and has cabins available, yet lists it as a 'premier Christian Family Campground' kinda weird that is in the promo ad for it. They will probably dislike our rowdy, drunken ways.

    https://thinkdunes.com/business/dunes-harbor-family-camp/

This one lists having a security guard. Hmmm why is that needed? I guess if you want to leave stuff at the site and go out to the dunes that is needed?

We plan on camping for the silver lake night or nights, then when we go up a little more north to come back via SSM we may get a motel or cabin, there are 2 more dunes I want to try and see if we can hit up on the way back.

@Norilsk what do you think? You want to stay at one of these camp resorts or you getting a room like Dax?

I want to reserve a site asap so I dont miss out. Basic site, we will be using the tent in the back of the truck.

I booked a motel room in Hart for May 15-16, and a motel room in Ludington for May 17. Not sure yet about going up to Sleeping Bear Dunes further up north - looks like vehicles can't get on the beach there, and entrance fee is $25 US per vehicle.

@3JOH22A is correct and the Silver Lake dunes are the only ones you can drive on. Some of the ones to the North are supposed to be very beautiful, which is why I want to go there with the wife and walk around, maybe go swimming if the weather is nice.

@Norilsk from looking at a few of the resorts websites, they all seem priced pretty close together. No big differences.

I am going to book May 15 - 17 (2 nights) as we are going to spend a week playing around in Michigan, 2 days at the dunes we can drive on sounds good to me.

    Looking like this place http://www.silverlakejellystone.com/book-online/

We plan on leaving in the morning of Thursday May 14, and arriving a day early in southern Ontario. Since it will take us probably 6 hours to get down there, I dont want to drive for like 12 hours in 1 day on Friday. We will probably stay in a Motel that night. Any suggestions? Close to where we are meeting would be a plus. Where is that? o_O

Make sure you guys go for a swim! Tons of trails in the Huron manistee national forest too. Last I knew you needed the ORV and ORV Trail permits to drive all over the dunes and various other areas/trails... and day pass at certain parks.. or recreational passport if you guys buy annual sticker.

Correction! It seems the tour is only offered at the Cambridge plant, not the Woodstock plant. Nevermind...

Seems high when it comes to camping prices there, I am going to investigate this weekend all the area and see what options are there.
Meanwhile, there are million things to do in the area, see this guide

@llamasmurf found this link, you can locate silver lake state park and pick campgrounds for $25/night there

https://midnrreservations.com/ (go to souther MI and choose silver state park)

Plenty camping space there as of now, check it out and let me know.

    @Norilsk @3JOH22A

Was just informed that my dog sitters (parents) have had a change in plans. They are no longer available for that week in May. The wife and I are going to have to cancel :censored:.

We will do our run later on in the summer :cookiemonster:

Bringing the dog not an option? A bit more paperwork at the border.
