You’ve got me intrigued. I found the huge thread about them in the suspension forum and I’m already reading.

I don’t think the 6112/5160 combo is for me though. I did a search and a few people mentioned the digressive valving and how loose they feel on washboard roads and over big bumps... sure, they’re larger diameter than the 5100s but it sounds like they perform very similar on crappy roads and higher speeds off-road. And that’s exactly what I’m trying to improve.

I've rode in a lot of trucks the last few years since... The two best riding rigs had Kings and ADS. Dirt King uppers with the Kings and JBA uppers with the ADS. Experienced both of these setups on the same trails and same speeds.

This is excluding any long travel applications. I know nothing about actual shocks, valves, spring rates, etc. either so don't ask haha...

You're saying the heavier truck rides smoother? Yeah maybe. Cant remember if I rode with Matt but his truck is super heavy, it didn't stand out to me if so. Rode with Joe in the Hab-mobile and it was meh. Another heavy truck.

I think tires make a big difference too. Sidewall flex and all that jazz.

While I’m 50/50 love/not love the ride of my ToyTec Boss 2.5” shocks...the one thing I ABSOLUTELY LOVE is the height adjustment is at the Top. Any coilover I buy from here forward will be the same. Any tweak needed - just jack up the front and grab your spanner wrench and turn the adjuster. No top plate spacer needed, no clip in one of 4 slots which is a pain to change.

    Top adjustment rocks!

    You weren't
Both ADS and Kings have top adjustment. All coils at this level do. You can waste money on a tool from the manufacturer or you can use a 5/16 punch.

I had some top out issues which were largely resolved by sending them back to ADS to have the new top-out protection retrofitted. Now, all EXT have this standard.

I did experience some mild top out harshness this weekend but honestly, the answer is "go faster" or "slow down.". Your choice, I know what mine was :mudding:

**Edit: This is also going to come down to tires. I have 255/85 ST MAXX which have all the compliance of granite. I didn't air them down far enough this weekend

Did you order yours directly from them or through a vendor? It sounds like I can get them customized to my preferences if I order directly through them but the cost they have on the website is hundreds more than ordering the same set through Headstrong...

I went through NEO_Garage in Cleveland. Had a great experience and worked with ADS to sort out the details.

Headstrong is always an exceptional choice. I just happened to get a better deal elsewhere.

    Interesting.

I plan on replacing my OME suspension with ADS when its time. Which wont be for a long time because my suspension is new.

So, do to so anytime soon, I will need to start working on the wife to get her warmed up to the idea. Or, just do it and ask forgiveness later. But, I'm going to be swapping my springs out on the front to handle the weight of my new bumper better.

Easy fix, ditch the wife. Makes spending money on the truck a whole lot easier.

And yeah, I don’t really want to spend the money on a new suspension but with the 5100s being about four years old now, I’m ready for something different (and less harsh on my daily commute).

I’m sure I can sell the shocks and springs to someone who wants a cheap, quick ~3” of lift anyway.

If I ditch the wife, she and the two hoonjibblins get all my moneyz. So, no extra cash for mods. lol.

Fair enough. I still don’t know how I managed to dodge that bullet. The kids do still manage to eat up a lot of my money though...

And ugh, the more I read, the more I’m torn between the Fox kit and the ADS kit. Damn you TacomaWorld!

Both are excellent, if you go Fox get them through Accutune and have them set everything up for your truck.
