I like how you moved yours a little to the right. I followed @p3coyote so i only had to drill 2 new holes. That works for me because I didnt want to experiment and only mess up. The tire was hugging the left side more so I have to push it to the right while I had my son crank the lift. No big deal I just love that I have my bed space back

 

Best build on the forum...even though the ADV one is more complete.

 

Can I pay you to telemechanic help me install the bp-51 system by my self? I’m in Hawaii. I have a friend that knows more then I do but not as much as you know. No one has this kit
Here that I know of.

 

Super easy to install. Take out stock (old) part and install the new one. I did it myself with basic tools.

 

Even adding New UCAs?
What about spring compression? Should I just leave at factory settings and add weight?

Lots of good information on the kit. Upper control arms are an easy swap. Check youtube on how to change upper control arms on a Tacoma. Mainly, you can buy a new bolt and cut off the old one. Or, bend the weld seam back a bit (towards the fender) and slide the bolt out through the top. I chose the latter option. They come from the factory set at 5mm now. If you are not running anything, I would leave it alone. As you add weight, you can adjust the preload on them. I'm sitting at 15mm, but have a steel front bumper, winch and roof rack.

to adjust the coil overs for added weight or less weight do you need a spring compressor ? Or would I have to take to shop? This would suck but this seems like one of the best made set ups around.

 

I took mine to a shop and had them adjust the pre-load. There are tools out there where you can do it yourself, but I didn't plan on changing mine often.

 

Once you have the pre-load adjusted you can adjust the compression and resistance while the suspension is on the truck correct?

 

Yes. I'm still playing with those settings.

Richland WA, chiming in here. Way to represent the Tri-Cities! Great build thread. I’ll be doing a tiny fraction of what you represent here in a few months with an OME Nitrocharger/888/Dakar kit. The best part of the story is the father and son stuff. Love it.

Plus Nuts & Rivet Nuts. I made up a video showing the difference between a Rivet Nut & a Plus Nut...when to use each and an overview of the different installation tools.

Plus Nuts are super handy and I've been using a lot of them. I've been asked several times recently about the differences in a Plus Nut and a Rivet Nut so decided to make up a video and demonstrate the tools in action.

Marine Grade Wire & Heat Shrink Terminals vs Automotive Grade.

In this video I highlight the differences between Marine grade wire & heat shrink crimp terminals vs standard automotive grade. I also cover the difference between standard crimping tools and specialized heat shrink crimp tools.

This is by far one of the coolest build threads I have read. Very impressed with the quality of the builds.
Your father’s welding skills are incredible. Those welds are magical and absolutely incredible.

@Hodakaguy is that a railroad engine piston in that picture that holds the vice?

 

Thanks, We had a lot of fun building them out. I'm currently building a 17 4wd Sprinter (Link in my sig line below)....it's been a ton of fun as well

The piston is out of a 1955 Ingersol Rand KVS 6 cylinder engine. The engine is rated at 1000hp at 330rpm and runs two double acting integral compressors. The bare piston weighs 400lbs.

Here's a few shots of the engine itself, they are a kick to work on!

What size tires are you running? Need to figure out what the largest tires that can fit under the bed.
