I believe every place should be teaching the same stuff. When I did mine in Texas, we had a classroom portion with test and had 50 rounds with practical on a range at various distances. I forget the exact order,.. I think it was finger print submitted with IDENTOGO for record, then print the documents to take to the class and the instructor provided range cards. Once you had all that finished and signed, I had to mail the packet via certified mailer (you'll probably want proof that your documents were signed for) then it'll come down to waiting. I believe I had to wait like maybe 45 days before I had my permit (from Texas) but from what I heard around here that the wait times can vary from 40 to 90 days for initial issue, though your mileage may vary. Which reminds me that I should probably get a SC chl too,.. what with reciprocity and all that jazz.

    I would suggest Allen Arms.
Been a few years since I had mine done as the last renewal was by mail.

Regardless, you want someone that does it all.
SC laws, reciprocity with other states, range time, fingerprints.

I tell mine everything. We share accounts so it's not like we could hide those types of purchases anyways. We don't buy frivolous stuff very often though so a random expensive item here and there isn't anything to freak out over.

A lot of that stems from the media she is watching tell her to stop watching the fear mongers. Also get a little .22 and take her shooting, introduce her to women in the sport like Lena Miculik (young I know). Get her comfortable with them and you'll probably see a change in mindset. You can't be really aggressive about your assertions though or she won't even open an ear.

Yall know there are those of us females who like shooting! And getting guns! I am willing to hang out and even show others how to shoot and such :) A lot of it is the fear crap on TV. And yall go buy what you want. I have a list but only have 3 total (2 9mm and a 22 for shit shooting). Kinda like archery, got my fancy recurve and cheaper easy recurve for fun shots.

....also, your stories remind me of what I went thru buying a truck. Everyone: Are you SURE you want a pickup and not an SUV or van? Ummmm.....if I wanted either of those, I kinda would have said as much (even had people emailing me links to NICE suv and vans (gag). :annoyed::annoyed::annoyed:

Make her comfortable by showing her you can be a responsible gun owner. Kind of how I had to get my wife on board. Had a safe before I had a gun. Practice responsible / safe gun ownership and involve her. Take her shooting. As mentioned above, get a .22 and have some fun with it. I just picked up a S&W SW22 for plinking. fun shooter, zero recoil, and cheap ammo. It gets more attention when we go to the range than any other one I bring. now, when I bring a new one home, she just shakes her head, she knows the dealio.

havent shot it yet. just got a week ago, was going to go saturday, but it came with the wrong magwell adapter. It come with a ruger magwell adapter, and supposed to have some with a glock magazine adapter, but came with a second ruger adapter. Waiting on the glock magwell adapter, then will go break it in. Also was considering the Keltec Sub 2K. I liked the ruger better, but that keltec gets real good reviews too, and a bit cheaper, and lighter than the ruger.
