Shops usually don’t let you bring your own parts or if you do, the labor rate is higher

if they buy the part and there’s an issue with it, it’s easy to deal with. If you bring in parts and say something is missing or defective, it’s your problem to deal with and get replaced.

With labor that's actually a pretty good price for a front suspension overhaul

i have been told that is way too much for just some new shock absorbers, strut mounts, and LBJs, nothing more that than, ... no tie rods, bushings, steering rack or deeper stuff like that!

PS This doesn't have to do with any conversation going on here. I just had to get that out of my head. Decisions were made. Ego's were involved. Really an Ego. It's not going to work out well.

Yeah.... Luckily I am mostly isolated from it. The logic, or lack thereof, is just amazing.

Maybe you should go get some more quotes.

sure it’s cheaper if you do it yourself.. shops are gonna charge $50-150 an hour for labor..

Front end work is a pain in the ass. Also, sometimes you require a press to do some of it. Also unless its on a brand new vehicle its super dirty work as well.

@kairo’s guest house having a water with @not_nick
    Under development
If you can’t get a quote for less, then it’s not way too much to pay someone to do. Doing it yourself could be cheaper.

And corroded. And gotta heat bolts or cut them out and replace them.

plus you gotta do an alignment

doing the rear is way easier

since my mechanical experience and knowledge is very subpar (had a number of issues in my teens and early 20s attempting some repairs on my old car that i just messed up real bad that i recall) doing something major (that would have potential safety implications) without proper tools & equipment + knowledge/experience very much discourages me :(

there are options to truck it to TX,AZ,CA where there are TW 1st gen friendlies that have experience, tools, etc and probably better physical capabilities that would do it for nothing more than some refreshing beverages and some grilled Omaha steaks!

Unless you don’t know what your doing, then it can cost you more than having a shop do it lol

By the time you do the math, it’ll cost you as much..if not more than the shop quote you have...
