tools, proper equipment, experience for one
i am going to assume i cannot remove the bolts with a basic socket or box wrench
then there is the putting back together properly with no fcks and trusting reliability on the freeway

These are all reasons you pay someone to do it....... You are counterproductive to your own success here....

Did your Speedo stop working and only shows 90 mph cuz I think that’s the only speed you drive..

i usually do not drive that fast, usually under the speed limit, 70 or so in traffic maybe 65
its only when the truck is feeling peppy and i need to step it up to move on a good surface

yes, then it can be very costly. However, it would make that 1500 sound pretty good the next time around. :spending:

So really at this point you're saying you won't do it but you don't want to pay someone to do it.... Soooooooooo..... Time to grit your teeth, bear it and STFU... Or get of the pot and pay someone to fix your shit.

i just don't want to 'overpay', i have been told these things take like 1/2 hour each side, not 3 hours as i think i was quoted

i have a ton of other work i need to do on my truck myself (it could take months to complete at a couple of hours per day, weather permitting!) underneath just because there is no pro out there locally that has a single clue of what to do :(

i am having a difficult time rationalizing putting that kind of repair/upkeep money into something that is not worth much more than $4k

Here's the deal. If all the shops in your area quoted you $1500, then that is what you'll have to pay to get the job done.

If you only went to one or two shops and they want to charge you $1500 to do this job, it's your own damn fault for being lazy.

THEN BUY A NEW TRUCK HOMEBOY.

Then I’ll return to my post 7097 from 2 hours ago. You see, you are just going round and round. If you aren’t buying a new truck, you need to pay what it costs to maintain the one you have. If you don’t want to do either, then just let it go, and talk about something else.
