My new Taco (my 1st too) Advice.

So my Tacoma is on order. A TRD Sport, 4 door, short bed in Metallic Gray. I simply can't wait!!
My Question: What are the things, specific to Tacomas, that I should know, do or keep an eye on to keep it running/looking like new?

wash it often and do the regular scheduled maintenence, and it should last you a lifetime

 

change the oil, outside of that its a toyota, try not to neglect maintenance. i mean i guess try not to flood the motor.

I'm religious about the maintenance - especially at this sticker price, but do they prefer synth oil, special gas or anything like that? Can I run 87 octane without pinging? Tire pressure for daily use? Stuff like that. Thanks for the replies.

 

Some vehicles run on some types of gas better then others. I.E. BP runs better then Exxon etc. That's more of a guess and check thing though.

 

I'd go with a full synthetic like Amsoil when you go to change oil. It's got a 25K mile/once a year rating for the oil. I usually run 89, but with premium you will see your best performance. I run the tire pressure as per the sticker in the door jam on the drivers side and that works great for me.

 

Regular maintenance and never use cheap gas such as ARCO. I like to use a high grade/octane gas for the higher amount of cleaning agent to clean out any residues at least once a month, otherwise I just use 87. Congrats on the new Taco, eat well...

 

Don't park or rub against trees or bushes. The paint can scratch by just looking at it.

 

i run my tire pressure much high than the door says, i am very well aware that this can reduce my grip but with my much oversize tires this has not ben an issue at all in 4 years, i have seen a lot more tire life at the higher pressure. not good for winter conditions, it doesn't snow here. Good luck i think you will be very happy.

I've had mine about 3 weeks now. Great truck. Just do the usual maintenance. It should last a long time.

 

Congrats on the truck. I use regular gas and synthetic oil in mine. Change the oil at the factory recommened intervals. No problems.
