I’m considering getting a Scs blemish sr8 and putting a used wildpeak on there when time comes to put on a new set. Anyone else done this or am I wasting time and money?? I like the idea of having a sale size spare for emergencies...

Just get the same size tire as you are running. No need to waste money on a fancy wheel that will sit under the truck 99.9% of its time.

I keep a full size matching spare under the bed. Also do 5 tire rotations.

If you go this route why not have five alike and to a five tire rotation? This way it’s utilized and not just reserved as a spare only.

Edit: @eccracer104 beat me to it.

Same size spare is a good idea, but you don't need a fancy rim, as long as the overall diameter is the same (for emergencies). Your best bet would be to get a matching wheel and get the same 5th tire and do 5 tire rotations like @eccracer104. I currently have a same-size spare mounted to a steelie on my swingarm, but will get a matching 5th wheel and tire when I move up to 35s after my 33s wear out.

So what are the main advantages to adding a 5th tire to the rotation? Does it add mileage to the group?

I bought a 5th SCS F5 for my spare. I had the $ and figured it would be good to have a spare wheel in case I damaged one somehow, especially since SCS inventory fluctuates so much.

Your set of tires will wear evenly. If you never use your spare, it could be much larger in diameter by the time your tires are low on tread. Probably will add a little extra mileage to your tires' life too.

Or get a matching full size and put it on a Hitchgate Offset on the back.

This was my line of thinking. If somehow I trash one. I’ll have a spare. Might not be the cleanest but it’ll match

I damaged a wheel, and had to buy a new matching wheel for my Pro Sema's. I had the damaged wheel fixed but keep it wrapped in a full size tire under my bed.

if you're getting an aftermarket wheel, I'd say buy 5. If one gets damaged you wont have to search the internet for the sometimes hard to find matching wheel. Especially with brands like SCS
