Last Friday I was determined to purchase a set of new TRD Matte Black wheels and new tires for my 2017 TRD Sport. While I waited for the wheels I decided to take a look at the new 2020 model (bad idea)... While looking at the enw features the salesman tells me; "we have a special offer for this month on new models 0.98 interest for 72 month". I thank him and walked away, back at the parts department I did the math and with this offer I will keep the same monthly payment....

Long story short, I ended up trading my 2017 for a new 2020. Instead of getting new wheels and tires.

I'm satisfied with my purchase, this new model feels much more linear on the road, the LED headlights are AWESOME, the radio and sound system (not JBL) sounds much better. The cabin seems to be more insulated compared to my 2017. The tonneau cover that came with the truck is nice and its the OEM Toyota model, but I like the backflip trifold hard cover I had. Since it doesn't sit on top of the truck bed.

But, still thinking on those TRD wheels and TOYO AT2 tires... Said my next truck would be 4x4 but here in PR the price difference is really significant. But in 3 years I had no use for the 4x4.

In general, it was a very nice upgrade

Someone went to the dealer hoping to be talked into a new truck. Good luck on getting those wheels next time!

Keep same monthly payment, but extend amount of time paying. Dealers love this concept.

^^^^^^ And then you will be be drooling over the 2024 4th generation, trade in your 2020 and starting the whole payment cycle over again. Banks love customers like this.

I came expecting to see a Taco on $13K worth of carbon fiber and rubber. I guess I'm relieved?

They tried this with our Rav4. Had the 2015 in for service, some lady comes around the corner and calls my name. She then opens up a folder with a 2019 Rav4 and a monthly payment a little less than what our current was. After I told her the only way I would trade is if I kept the same payment for the same amount of time remaining. I dont get any emails or flyers from them anymore about upgrading.

I'm going to go the opposite of everyone else's opinion...if your interest rate is under 1%, who cares how long the loan term is? You're not paying much at all in interest anyhow. Glad you're happy with you're purchase OP. Enjoy your new truck.

There's something to be said about someone who lives life to the fullest. Life is short, and you have to pay for what you want sometimes.

But when you fixate on the monthly payment figure, instead of the overall sale price, it's just not good financial thinking. Best to haggle over sale price and trade value, then see how low your payments get with that same .98% rate.

Congrats on the new truck OP!

I traded my 2017 for a 2020. Yes the dealership loves me! But I got an unbelievable offer for my trade, and a good price on the 2020.
I went from an SR5 to an OffRoad. I was happy with the 2017, I'm happier with the 2020. Lot's of nice improvements.
    I paid cash. YOLO

I have a '19. The thing I am jealous about the 2020's is the new front camera, apple car play, and the physical buttons on the infotainment system.

Thanks! Yes, I still had 3 years left of payments for my 2017 at 3.75%. Now at .98% and same monthly payment... I'll worry 3 years from now... and probably keep it or sell it for a good profit since their resale value is always UP

Enjoy your new wheels! forget what the negative people are saying... they aren't paying your bills! I went for an oil change in my 2012 and came home with the new oil in a 2017 HAHA
