Quite a few things at this point..
I replied before reading all the posts. Very glad you've decided to get it done. Mine was the same day I found out I even had stones. Was "lucky" the hospital had an opening in surgery that same day. Maybe they felt bad that it was birthday lol. And yeah, that cost blows even with insurance, that was my only hesitation with the surgery. Wasn't scared of complications happening, but was frustrated about our "fantastic" American healthcare costs. Before insurance, the whole event cost ~$24,000 for less than 24 hours in the hospital and the surgery... I only had to pay $4000, but it sure made me hate the costs that surround the American health care system.. I would be bankrupt and without my Taco if I didn't have insurance.

I really don't understand why they wouldn't remove it on those grounds. You're only going to get worse waiting. It's really frustrating to hear this happen to you. I've been there, and it's just so incredibly stupid.

While you're getting those fluids though, ask to go on walks and what not. I know you prob don't feel so hot, but the longer you sit, if they give you too many fluids, you can end up getting pneumonia, or just overall having a harder time healing and being active again after all is said and done.

One of the many complications I had after my surgery, and they sent me home because the 2018 flu season had the CCU full. I didn't walk around at all leading up because I had a bed alarm due to being a fall risk, and after walking just made me really ill because I still couldn't eat, so at that point it had been effectively 10 days since I had eaten. All they did was tell me to cough as much as I could to keep my lungs chuggin.

And after them crippling me forever, malpractice lawyers who don't have doctor friends? lul what are those?

Spend your time in bed doing some research on WebMD. I hate being miss WebMD degree, but I have a rare genetic condition that none of my doctors know much about, and keeping yourself out of the dark can be important. Something I wish I would have done while in the hospital. Hang in there.

Had this in Afghanistan 8 years ago. French doctor in the Role 2 called it correctly, because the blockage was making me jaundiced. Medevac'd to Landstuhl and had it removed. Turns out it was my least favorite organ! The only "downside" is that I can't drink more than 2 beers anymore, which is actually a blessing, cuz it leaves more money for Taco and gun stuff! Bottom line, don't wait, go get 'er yanked!

    YAY!!!!

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Also I’d be terrified to have a surgeon say to me he doesn’t know how I knew. Uh did you graduate medical school or pass your boards?

Thx, so just a quick question that keeps bugging me even tho I kinda know the answer, stones cannot get stuck anymore right? I won’t have those pains anymore? Liver can’t produce stones? Or they get stuck from liver to intestines since gallbladder is gone?

Not to scare you but technically you can get liver stones. That would basically mean having a whole other medical condition.

I understand your hesitancy. I’ve been getting horrific abdominal pain from meds my docs keep giving me. I know its the meds but I’m still terrified to try eating certain foods.

    The pain is traumatic.

I wouldn’t get too worried. The chances of this continuing to be a problem is slim.

I've heard people say that the liver itself can sludge online, but no one I know or have seen online has ever had that happen. So I'd say no, you shouldn't develop a stone or anything like that again; it's over.

Personally, I still get slight pains there. I don't know if it's because of scar tissue, or if I eat something too fatty, and there's not enough bile to process it right, so my body's just kinda like "hey, wtf" but it's kinda a nagging ache, absolutely NOTHING like an actual attack.

I'd be lying if I said this isn't something I kinda worry about too. I have what's called Gilbert's Syndrome, where my liver doesn't process bilirubin correctly, which is why mine sludged up at 19. My bilirubin levels are always high, so it makes me wonder what the future holds, but, they've been removing gallbladders as a standard procedure for quite a while, so I don't think it's all that likely. Either way, getting this surgery is a good excuse to start to eat better and take good care of your body. If you do that, I doubt anything like that would happen again.

Either way, no use worrying about it really, no matter what, it was imperative that you got it removed, as having gallbladder disease can become deadly if blocked for too long. Bridges can be crossed if they come along. No reason to live in fear. Just take care of yourself and you should be good to go.

Late to this party, but I had one painful attack and ended up in the emergency room. Doc said if I have it out as part of the ER visit it will cost less on my insurance. (FUCK American health care, just sayin :annoyed:)

Anyway, it was the best thing I've ever done from a surgery perspective. I didn't associate my malaise with the gall bladder. Once that bitch was gone, and I'd healed up, I felt MUCH better.

Ouch man! Ya I’m hesitant to eat anything yet, still clear liquids and home made bone broth, even in a few months I’ll be scared, I’m so scared of having another attack even without a GB

Hey so how long ago did you have it removed? Any pain afterwards or stones getting stuck?

I had mine removed feb 2013. No pain or attacks since then. There are some foods I try to avoid because it goes right through.

I had my gall bladder removed March of 2016. It was done laparoscopically so it wasn't too invasive. But, the surgeon said he had to enlarge the incision where the gall badder was removed because of the nickle size stones. For the first couple of days it was uncomfortable every time I used my stomach muscles, (which is all the time BTW) but that was gone in a week or so. I took a full week off work because I needed to burn some sick time and milked it for what I could.

After the surgery the only real difference I could tell was my bowels were a little "looser" than before and I felt better. I had been feeling gall bladder problems, but no attacks. I've had zero problems related to the surgery. Oh and I eat whatever I want.

Seems to be more of the fatty & greasy. I still eat them, but know to kind of stay close to a bathroom.
