3D Tacoma Parts Thread

My roof lights glare off my hood and I didnt want to go the vinyl rout, so I've designed these lightpod covers instead.

From what it looks like light is shining from the sides of the lights, so I'll might have to make small side visors and bring up/extend the bottom lip. But it is an improvement, which is good to see.

Also, hope you guys dont mind if I post about my 2nd gen. The 3D printing community is pretty small as it is, might not be pragmatic to split to a different thread.

 

Did you ever get something modeled up for this? I actually ordered a camera to do exactly this the other day that shows up today. I was planning to start modeling it today probably but then saw your post of doing the same.

 

Still in the process still, trying to get all my 2d drawings imported into Solidworks so I can model all the cavities and such. What camera did you get? I don't mind sharing any information I've gathered so far, I figure the more people working on it, maybe designs can improve and such.

That looks like it should be a much easier project and can sit further back into the grill than the Natika camera I purchased. That camera should make it fairly straight forward.

alright! all finished and put them on to test. Another improvement, still not as much as I was expecting, but I'm happy with this. The area closest to the cab and part of the dash is were it counts and that is well shaded. (I should have taken these pictures away from parking lot lights)

Love this thread. Just got back into a tacoma and an avid 3D modeler and printer. Have a print running for the taco right now. Details coming.

anyone on here want to do me a solid?

I have a printr bot simple maker 1401 and its string fed which creates a variety of issues. Well wouldn't you know it the string x-axis is slipping with no end in sight because it uses a round dremel sand wheel. There is an option to upgrade to belt driven, but at this stage I can not produce the parts to make it happen. I would need all these parts created from here -> https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:194686 and the rest ill have to source from Amazon.

obviously your time, material and shippping would be compensated. Are there any takers?

Got one print off before the axis started slipping

Made myself an anderson connector mount that will be affixed to the outside of the cap. I can plug in a solar extension cable, or maybe boost the battery or even yet maybe hook into shore power if I can get the system in place.

Had some of the first few layers curve up so I'll printing the next one (hopefully) with a skirt. Maybe fiddle with the heat

 

I just threw all the parts into Cura. I'm not the least bit concerned with the amount of material or time - it comes out to just over $1USD, give or take



What I am concerned with is the shipping to what I'm assuming is Ontario?



For a 2 pound box, that seems outrageous but I've never shipped anything internationally before. Is there a cheaper option?

 

I mean even if it arrives on 25 Mar , $25 isnt half bad for the speed. Assumption correct Ontario, by the ill-fated toronto. I'll PM you

As an aside, this is my first time doing the painters tape trick. Seems to be working well so far.

 

Been able to go at a pretty decent pace so far.



Now I'm only worried about the print accuracy if you need to put specific sized nuts in the slots. They'll undoubtedly need to be sanded a bit, too.

 

blue paint tape works wonders doesnt it! I havent tried the glue stick yet, and may not even.

well im sure i can sand away the oversized portions no problem. Belt and bearings came in today. has me all like
