Alright so I know nothing about OV Tune. From what I understand it’s a tuning chip? What’s the benefit for our 2.7 NA?

I think most the benefit will be for those who have boosted, the ability to tune without having to buy a piggy-back ECM. I’m not so sure there will be great benefits for normally aspirated trucks, it’s not like the autos were plagued like the 3rd Gen guys. I’m not so sure there’s that much more hp to gain from our engine without boost, maybe fuel economy?

For sure I’ve really only seen the 3.5 guys using it to help with the shifting “issues” but interesting none the less I’ll have to keep my ears open.

That's understandable I bet that's probably the best application.

I recently found my add a leaf is broken. From my research if you can swing the price, looking for 1.5 inches, and aren't carrying heavy loads this is one of the better choices.

Took Rocko on a shakedown run up a local cell maintenance trail after installed some billies and an add a leaf last week. It’s crazy how capable these trucks are with a slight lift and 32’s.

I picked up a low mileage pair of j66 this weekend. No complaints, still kept some lift with the shell on the back. Haven't tried loading them up heavy yet, but I took the truck through some paces on and off road and they are a big step up from the AAL setup I had before it!

What size tires are you running and what strut/coil set up do you have?

I’m kind of in a similar situation I have the 3rd gen leafs/shocks in the rear but with the weight of the FlipPac & hitch about 400lbs constant load I’m getting some negative arch. I just ordered the MD Dakar pack which should be here tomorrow. Anyway I’m thinkin it might look a bit goofy with my tires (stock size) in the rear if the leafs don’t settle in with the weight.

265/75/16, 5100's, and Dobinson coils. these coils are actually spec'd for a Toyota Fortuner in the Dobinson catalog. they work well on this truck tho. Fortuner shares the 2.7L engine. I explained the trouble I had finding a lift coil that would also have a compliant spring rate to a Dobinson rep and these are what he recommended.

Yeahh, tires can make or break the look. Nothing wrong with 265's but Im bumping up to 255/85 next time to fill out the wheel wells better. Good luck on your Dakar pack, sounds like the medium duty would be a good choice for you.

Interesting I didn't know that, but I'll have to look into that setup seems like a good option. Are you planning on a front bumper/winch? I'm sure it'll be a huge step up from what I have now but you're right on track with 255/85 my buddy had one in his garage I put next to my current setup for reference and I think that'll do the trick with filling out the wheel wells.

No I won't be adding any weight which is why it was hard to find a lift coil that wouldn't ride like a horse with wooden legs, lol. These have a 475 lb/in spring rate, and the next closest was like 550 lb/in from OME.

I could still see the benefit of adding some weight to the front to make the Bilstein 5100 feel a little softer but I can't justify the price of a bumper/winch just to maybe get a softer ride.

Anyways the Dobinsons coils and Deaver J66 has been the closest to stock feeling I have found yet, but I haven't tied the high-end KINGS, ADS etc rebuildable shocks. I'm sure I could get more dialed in if I was able to change internal valving to my liking.

What are you guys running for 255/85s? I am looking for new tires in the future, want 33s and love the skinnies on my reg cab (have 235/85s now). Options seem to be extremely limited in this size and don't want to run a MT

I've just about finished adding sound insulation to my RC and I might gamble with some KM3's MT cause they look awesome (and have good reviews)

I second that I've been thinking about going through that process but as much of a procrastinator I am it'll probably take me a year haha.
