I'd treat it as a two seater.... but I treat my (seats 9) land cruiser as one too haha. I sat in the rear of the IS, it's not a 4 adult tourer by any means but I could sit back there for a couple hours just fine and I had headroom which is rare. Kids would be fine

I like everything but that ugly grille headlight combo, it's on all the Lexus models minus the LFA and it ruins them all visually.

Yup, it's a GE. The easiest car to swap is a car that's already had the motor though... Anywho, the GE is plenty strong too, no problem holding 600 to 800 horsepuppies. Can swap the GTE head on and be 6 oil squirters short of the holy grail engine.

No 1JZs were ever stateside as an OEM option. But the Toyota Altezza (IS300 in other markets) had the option for a turbo 1J or a turbo 2J depending on market (japan's limit on displacement necessitated the 1J option). Thankfully you can get an OEM 2JZ-GTE ECU and harness for the IS300 that is drop in, that way you can keep all the fancy features like traction control and ABS....etc. Then all you need is a bit of work to your existing 2JZ-GE or to swap in GTE. People sometimes do the 1JZ swap too, but I don't really get why they'd want the smaller displacement, maybe just to be more JDM?
