I recently bought a hard shell RTT and was looking at mounting options. I was going to buy the Bravo rack for over the cab, but now I’m not sure if it would be better to get the Bravo eX rack for my bed cap. I was a little worried about the weight on the bed cap, and was really is the only reason I wanted to put it over the cab. Do you guys have any recommendations?

we have had plenty of customers run it RTTs on caps including some of us at upTOP. We taken them on long fast dirt roads and slow rough trails with no issue. I would recommend the eX and RTT on cap

I'm curious, is the Thin Fin compatible with the 2020 tacomas? The website says 2016-2019, and I couldn't seem to find the answer in the thread.

I'm also in the minority of people who'd like to run a RTT on the cab. Due to my tonneau setup (Truck Covers USA w/ Yakima bars) I'm pretty much limited to this option. Yakima does offer a kit to install their Overhaul/Outpost racks over similar tonneaus (Retrax XR Series, select Pace-Edwards, and Ford Embark LS) but unfortunately not for mine. So above the cab is where I need it to go.

With the load bars having such a low profile, I'd imagine this limits quite a few tents from fitting up top. Does anyone know of any RTTs that do fit with enough clearance? Perhaps there could be some mounting feet made for folks like us?

My suggestion would be to pad the roof mounts with spacers or washers just to give your self a little extra clearance of the cross bars for flex of the RTT weight.

Hey everyone, so I’m on the verge of ordering an Alpha double cab rack. I have some questions. Do you need to install the thinfin at all. I don’t mind it personally. Also if I were to install a light bar up top, where should I run the cable through in order for it? Thanks people.

The thinfin allows you to run the wires thru roof and utilize the 7th cross bar.

There are actually 2 holes in thinfin. I have my harness Running thru 1 of the holes and it’s powering 4 BD rock lights and the light bar.

Nice. Do you have a pic of it by any chance. I’m trying to figure out how it runs through that’s all. So if you don’t get a light bar or rock lights there is no need to modify the fin unless you want something to go fully across that portion.

The thinFIN is no longer required as the 7th bar can be run vertically behind the shark fin.

The thinFIN serves as a clean way to run wires through the roof. You can also drill a hole wherever you desire and use a waterproof grommet

Uptop obviously responded to this but as a guy that installed it, I highly recommend using the thin fin. Its included with the Alpha and the install isnt bad. Not sure where your from but if you're in the northern illinois area I'll offer up my garage to help with the install.

As of last month the thinFIN is no longer included as it is no longer necessary, but it's still a cool option.

    Forever modding!
Out of curiosity do that mean the suggestion is to drill a hole in the original fin for wiring now?
