    I think I'd have to get much higher in skill level to actually see the advantages hardtail has over full suspension. obviously the full suspension is so much more comfortable and I can hit things with no worry of how the bike is going to act. I know hardtails are more responsive and better power output, but my skill level I'm not going to see those advantages...

    the struggle is real haha... I completely agree but if you get the shocks setup correctly you wouldn't notice that much of a difference

    yeah I have way too many difference on this bike vs my old one to give a fair comparison to hardtail vs full squish. the other bike just sucked.

    80mm front travel to 150mm front/130mm rear travel
    640mm handlebars to 780mm handlebars
    27.5 to 29 tires, tube to tubeless
    massive stem to short stem
    no dropper post to dropper post
    mechanical disk brakes to hydraulic disk brakes
    3x8 drivetrain to 1x12
    etc
    etc

    that's the first things that come to mind...not even considering brand/quality of those components...

    I think as long as i can plan about 2-4 weeks out i could probably make a trip. Its just hard sometime with my kids constantly on the go doing something and little to no time with them during the week. But we did ride bikes yesterday. My oldest is starting to get into it, she got her first real mountain bike for Christmas.

    Forgot to post here, but last Friday @Jerneyman and I rode on Redstone Arsenal. Good time, but lots of uphill climbing at the start by poor trail choice...overall really good trail system, if you go the right direction...

    Definitely wouldn’t call it poor trail choice. It just didn’t fit your taste in trail because you had to actually pedal.

    poor direction of trail choice.

    the trails were actually cool, just uphill instead of downhill.

    so it was poor choice.

    Meh. We wouldn't have done Claymore if we didn't go uphill on those trails. You have to pick and choose which trails you want to run downhill. We can do Comanche backwards next time.

    well I see 3 other parking spots. yes, they all have to go uphill to get to the top of claymore....but you took us an hour and a half uphill lol. we could've just gone up claymore and back down it faster.
