Do "D" or "E" load tires affect ride?

So who has a load C Or D load in 285/70/17
Toyo’s only have SL an E load in 285/70/17
I’ve always ran BFG’s, but there load range are weird now.

I grew up in a time when the prevailing idea was “you don’t get something for nothing”. For every gain there had to be a loss of some sort. I accept that every mod I do to my truck will also take something away.

These days, there is this idea that everything can be a win/win. It just ain’t so.

Heavier tires, that carry more load, are more durable, and have a more aggressive tread, but are also quieter, smoother, and give better MPGs. These exist only the hive-mind imagination of Tacomaworld.

 

I run E currently because it's the only option for 265 on K02's. They are noticeably stiffer than my Cooper ST's I had prior in C load range. I run these at 33psi, so not high by any means....I won't be running any heavier than a C load when I get my Tacoma after running E loads. I wouldn't NOT get a tire because of the E load but I will try to stay away from them. Also food for thought is the weight difference between these...unless you NEED heavy duty tires because of the terrain your on, stick with lighter tires. IMHO...

 

E's will definitely ride stiffer and change the the way your truck rides. Heavier trucks tend to do better with the E rated tires and lighter trucks tend to do better with the C rated tires. E tires will have more rotating mass and will affect acceleration, braking, steering and suspension. You only need to justify it to yourself. Driving off-road in rocky areas or mostly with heavy loads would be the only reason that I would even consider an E rated tire on a light pickup like a Tacoma.

This is an E-range Falken Wildpeak 265/75R16 at 28 psi. They are stiffer than maybe passenger tires but it's not like you'd be running wooden wagon wheels.

 

I run E rated 33s. It’s a little stiffer than the SL but the truck feels better on road and off. Don’t get the wallowy boat feeling when turning. Fwiw everyone that rides in my truck says how nice it rides. That with lift, armor, E rated tires etc. drive mine and see. I wouldn’t run an SL again

 

I agree with most of the comments... I run ko2s E rated and my Me*t*d wheel actually split in half but my ko2 was still fine to mount on another wheel... if was less rated I feel possibly maybe my tire wouldn’t be reusable

 

My e rated geolandar mts are def more stiff, but it's not a unbearable ride at all.

 

Cooper 255/85/R16 D-rated

It feels like a truck to me. I noticed a bigger difference when I got OME 886x coils and HD Dakars.

I have a very different view. My KO2 are E rated and I have 5160 and 6112 with an 3 pack add a leaf setup, the ride is less then desirable.

Yeah but that bumper weighs 15,483 lbs....lmao. I love that bumper, like seriously. Beautiful truck.

I run 285/70/17s in C range. They ride great on the street and in the rocks, haven't had a single slice or puncture.
