I take MPG into consideration too. I'm always trying to see how many miles I can get out of a full tank. So far, the best I've gotten is 360 something miles on a full tank. After the lift, I've gone down to about 350 something miles per tank.

hmm is that waiting until the fuel light comes on to fill back up? At a 1/4 of a tank I just put more gas in to make sure I never run out.

Yeah, that's until the fuel light comes on. I could probably get 400 miles, but don't want to push it.

I don't want to push it either, so at 1/4 just put more gas in it. My wife does the same thing b/c she hates pumping gas . Seems like every sunday morning on the way to church she is out. I'm over here like, I know you pass all the same gas stations on your way home that I do, put gas in your giant suv :frusty:

hey I meant to ask you this before now, but for some random reason I remember this post....so....

I bought my Dakars before they had the "medium/heavy" classifications...it was just "Dakars" lol. I have the overload leaf in though, which makes 8 leafs (leaves?), so I'm running the maximum they offer which I assume is the now "heavy duty" setup. I can show you how mine sits if you're interested.

I will snap a picture tonight if I can remember to.

    A few things of note:
    • My fenders are cut all cut 1.5" and I have no fender flares, so thing will look majorly different compared to someone that doesn't have those modifications.
    • I carry a spare 35" tire, and my bed rack with hi lift jack on it full time....and that's it. Obviously I load stuff up when I need to, that's just the fulltime items, so not much weight.
    • My front end is the Dobinsons MRR with 730lb springs, so it also sits up a bit compared to most.

And that's exactly why going that much slower is creating a safety hazard. I pass two people on my moto but in a vehicle (unless Burt Reynolds) it's risky. People get impatient. It's amazing how long it feels traveling a two lane for 8 miles feels at 35mph. I mean do 5 under if you need to but more than that is excessive. If you feel you have to, pull over and let the 57 cars behind you go by!!!!

Just a guess, but if they are concentrating so hard on driving in the adverse conditions then they probably have NO CLUE anybody is behind them other than the one set of headlights they can see.

As a motorist, they should be aware of all their surroundings. Including how many folk are behind them but yes they probably have a death grip on the wheel and no way they are gonna look at that rearview.

a quick flick of the ol' mirror to night mode should fix that....but doesn't always solve the issue if they have brighter than standard halogen lights because that's usually filling up the whole vehicle with light and not just the mirror haha

Well if you stop and think about it, a lifted tacoma just sets where most stock 1/2 ton trucks do. The new trucks are mostly coming factory with LEDs now too, granted the reflective housing are made for LED bulbs so they do better handling the light.
