I have decided that I am going to put my tacoma up for sale in a couple of weeks after I get it detailed and my rear bypasses rebuilt/ replated. If anyone is looking for a long travel adventure rig, below are the specs. Once I get it cleaned up, I will post pics and actually create a sale ad in the for sale section of TW.

I am posting this here to get the word out and potentially find a perspective (local) buyer. I only have pictures of the truck getting dirty on adventures.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2011 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad 6-spd manual (Long Travel). Original owner, no accidents, title in hand. Truck is from sunny (dry) San Diego up until early 2017.

Sale Price: $30,000 OBO (I know it is above KBB/ NADA, but this is a unique truck)

The truck is very versatile. You can use it for home projects during the week and then throw camping gear in the back on the weekend and hit the trails. The Long Travel suspension has very good road manners. You will find that you get stuck less often since the wheels are in contact with the ground. The rear spring pack allows you to carry more weight in the bed vs. a stock leaf pack.

I mainly used the truck for remote off road exploration. Truck has never been ‘hucked’ through the air. I am not afraid to take this truck out to remote places. It is dependable and comfortable off road. I never thought I would be putting this rig up for sale but the time has come to give this truck a new home. Truck was used but not abused. Truck has typical signs of wear due to mileage.

I want to start a new project vehicle so the taco must go in order to get the other project off the ground. This truck can easily go another 200,000 miles with basic maintenance.

If you do not like tinkering/ doing maintenance/ working on your vehicle, this rig is not for you.

If you can’t handle urethane bushing squeaks or truck rattles, this truck is not for you.

If you are not sure what a Long Travel Suspension is, you should visit: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/considering-long-travel-read-here-first.180457/

If you are still interested in a Long Travel Rig after reading the above thread, continue reading below.

Truck will be sold as one and will not be parted out. All Items below will be sold with the truck unless specified.

    General Info:

    2011 TRD Offroad
    Double Cab Short Bed
Factory JBL Sub + Speakers (I have a different head unit that is integrated into the JBL system)
    6-spd Manual
    4WD with selectable High/Low
    Factory E-Locker
    4.0L Engine
    Cruise Control
    Tow Package (With Brake Booster)
    13 Cup Holders

Mileage : 110,xxx. Actual mileage is LOWER due to gear and tire size. I estimate the mileage is around 100,xxx.

    Modifications:

    Front Suspension:
Total Chaos +3.5 Long Travel Kit (~13.5” Travel with 4wd). Overall track width is increased 7” over stock.
Total Chaos Extended 4340 Axles (Retains 4wd)
Fox 2.5x8 Coilover shock with remote reservoir (650 lb coils)
Total Chaos Cam Tab Gussets (Keeps alignment in check while going offroad)
    Total Chaos Coil Bucket Gussets
    Total Chaos Spindle Gussets
Glassworks Unlimited +4 Bulge fiberglass fenders (Glassworks is now ADV fiberglass)

    Rear Suspension:
DMZ SUA (Spring Under Axle) kit. (Strapped at 18” of travel)
    Fox 16” Triple Bypass Shocks
    Fox 4” Hydraulic Bumpstops
Glassworks Unlimited +4 Bulge fiberglass bedsides
Low Profile Bed Cage. Bed is still useable. Plenty of room for camping gear/ home projects.
1.5 Wheel Spacers were added so tires won’t rub on bypasses.
Rear Frame is boxed from the Cab back.
Rear suspension work/ fabrication performed by Solo Motorsports in Southern California.
Full Size Spare fits under the bed (33”)

    Powertrain/ Gears
Both front and rear differentials changed to 4:56 (Nitro Gear & Axle).

    Wheels/ Tires
255/85/16 (Tall 33’s) Toyo Open Country Mud Terrains (70% Tread)
    Method Wheels (4.5” backspacing).

    Armor
    All Pro IFS Skid Plate
All Pro High Clearance Rear Bumper. (I also have the additional cross member for towing)
    All Pro Transmission Skid
All Pro APEX Bolt on Rock Sliders
    Pelfrey Built Hybrid Front Bumper

Misc. Items to be sold with the truck.
Prinsu Roof Rack. This is one of the early prototype racks offered to Tacoma World members.

SPOD. This accessory box isolates wiring so the factory wiring is not affected by adding additional components such as lighting and compressors. This unit also has a low voltage cut off circuit so you can’t drain your main battery by accidentally leaving a light bar on.
I have all the SPOD switches integrated into the headliner of the Cab.

Slee Offroad ARB Dual Compressor Bracket. This bracket is designed to hold the ARB Dual Compressor. ** I am not selling the Compressor**

Custom RTT Bed Rack. I designed this to work with the Long Travel Rear Suspension. Fiberglass bedsides aren’t strong enough to support a RTT. This rack ties into the bed cage and the bed floor. Rack can be removed in about 10min. **RTT is not for sale**

Softopper: I will also sell my Tan Softopper with the truck.

SUA Bushing Kit and U-bolts: I have a brand new set of bushings and U-bolts for the rear leafs.

Custom Snorkel with Safari Head: Snorkel is Tig Welded and is one of a kind.

L-Track installed in the bed channels. I use these all the time to secure stuff to the bed.

    Lighting:

Baja Designs 40” Stealth Light Bar (Spot/ Wide Cornering). This bar has additional features such as Normal, Dim, and Strobe. All the modes are accessible via a momentary push button in the cab.

Baja Designs Squadron Sport Ditch Lights (Wide Cornering Pattern)

    Recovery:
Warn M8000 with Synthetic Line. Winch + Remote will also be sold with the truck.

    Recent Maintenance:

    Oil Changed
    New Inner/ Outer Tie Rods
Steering Rack Bushings replaced with Polyurethane
Rear Bypasses Rebuilt/ Recoated with Zinc
    Serpentine Belt (~1 year)
New Stainless Uniballs ~2yrs ago with about 1000mi of offroad miles on them. The uniballs have much life in them.
Rear SUA bushings (~1 year on them)
New Carrier Bearing and U-Joints (x3). All OEM Spicer Parts.
    Transfer case Oil Changed
    Rear Diff Oil Changed
    Front Transmission Oil Changed
Repainted the following: Rock Sliders, Bed Cage, Rear Frame.

Sorry for the dirty pics. I will take some after I get it cleaned up.

So, are you going the Gladiator route? I saw a pic of the 2021 Bronco and it looked pretty sweet.

    Yes :anonymous:... haha

I test drove one yesterday and I was pretty impressed. It is definitely a different experience driving a Solid Axle vehicle over long travel. The front axle definitely moves side to side over the suspension cycle and it is apparent.

I saw a video of one in moab doing moab rim on a simple 2" lift and 37's. That thing had no issues wheelin. I think people need to take off the trailer hitch though. You will easily gain a couple degrees of departure angle. Also adding a high clearance bumper will solve that. I will have to break out the tube bender and solidworks and make my own..

Gotcha... They could have used a different body then!

I have a buddy who used to work on HMV's. He said the gear boxes are pretty well thought out. If something breaks, un bolt and replace.

Thankfully, they make most military ground vehicles pretty uncomplicated by design.

The story I heard was they put too long of a shock in the back, so the shock shaft became the bump stop. Shock mounts are on the weak part of the gladiator frame, so long shocks plus trailer equal doom.

Not sure that adds up in my book, but thats the story.
