Yes, one with the twin sticks on it already. Just don't know how this would work on the 3rd gen, don't know the difference in the transmissions.

Ok you all, here is the new information for the cars n coffee for next weekend, March 14.

Please take special note we have to be out of the parking lot by 0945 and also gates open at 0645, it has been recommended that we get there early...

I will not be posting who is going and who is not going, if you can make it the would be great.

Ok traffic will not be routed through the main gate, this is a permanent change as you will now pass through the toll booths. Fiesta Texas has another event going on this day so when you get to the toll booths you need to tell them that you are there for Cars n Coffee *** otherwise you will end up paying for parking ***.

Ok out by the map below where it points out Toyota's, will be a light pole labeled 19, park by this area so that we can claim out area. Would be best if we start two rows to for parking purposes. Hope to see you out there.

    February 2020 Turn out.

Hey y’all, my wife and I are headed down this weekend to visit my brother at Lackland.

Looking for good craft beer, gastropubs, and food.
Kinda burned out on the river walk from my time at BAMC. The Pearl area was under construction when I was there, but I’ve heard it’s nice now?
Walkable is a plus, proximity to Lackland would be convenient.

Also, what area would you stay in? Most likely will be getting an AirBnB for Friday/Saturday nights.

Billeting if you can get it, otherwise further north or west (not next to or south of the base). I lived on Lackland for 12 years, but kept it locked and moving whenever venturing forth. My folks always brought their RV so they wouldn't have to do a motel. I think the places out near Sea World are still nice, and might have lowered prices with the coronavirus fears.

LOTS of good food around the area. My favorite Mexican place was Piedras Negras de la Noche. Be decisive - their menu is massive and not for folks who can't make up their mind. They also make everything from scratch.

    +1 for billeting

    Book a room now

In my experience it's super cheap, clean, and secure.

I third the billeting. Just get temp housing to give you a place for the weekend. Safer, cheaper, only thing that sucks is no Uber or Lyft. When the wife and I go drinking, we usually do the bnb solely for that reason

Mannnnn..... I want a 3rd Gen skid plate but don’t want to pay full price for one. That’s the one mod I haven’t been able to find a good deal on. Open to suggestions, on my list of mods this one has eluded me for too long.

    Thanks, y’all.

I should have mentioned that he’s there to change MOS, not for their initial entry AIT. He’ll be free all weekend and won’t have to play schoolhouse games.

I think he might want to get away from base, drink/etc, so that’s why I’m looking at an AirBnB vs billeting.

If I were you all then, I’d pick him up and go stay on Randolf in their temp-housing for the weekend. Same applies for price and worry, come and go as a civilian with a fully furnished house that gets cleaned everyday.

otherwise it’s gonna be tough to find a good place due to SB. As far as the Pearl goes, it’s a solid place for one of your afternoons. Not sure it provides more than a days worth of entertainment though imo
