I got the Alta Rack. Local to me, and the baskets are swappable for different tire sizes (reg, plus, fat tire). Plus its expandable so I got the 4 bike model, and if I wanted to carry 6, s could just add 2 baskets. Really helpful if you're rubbing brake levers on frames or whatever, you can just move the basket.

I was his R&D testbed / marketing photo truck, so while I never got compensated, I did get to use a sweet rack for a few weekends before I paid for one.

I was looking at the Yakima model. Their marketing bastards purposely used it on a Tacoma so they could show how it didn't interfere with the tailgate. lol The 4 bike one will do for my needs, but I like Alta's ability to add two later down the road. I have a little while before I have to pull the trigger on this purchase but I like to see what everyone is using.

    not enough.
if your'e getting a hanging rack like the alta rack...there are multiple options. HOWEVER, make sure youg et one that hangs on the tires/ there are ones that hang by the fork crown and over time, that'll eat at your crown and rub away at it.

I've thought about using a couple of masterlocks but I know how to pick those and it made me nervous. the kryptonite U-locks are much harder to pick.

What it all comes down to is making it harder for theft.

EDIT: the cables are easier to use for sure. Chains can get annoying but are significantly harder to break.

I have cables. The saying "locks keep honest people from making mistakes" applies. If a thief really wants your bike they will have the tools to get it, chain/cable cutters. Its why i dont leave my bike unattended if possible.

I really like a hitch platform rack. I’ve never had a problem. I’ve also got a bed rack. Never a problem.

Dude yes, I can't wait to show you around. This photo was the start of enduro stage 2 on Sunday. About an 8 foot drop into a berm ha

Unfortunately I was a course marshal all weekend and didn't really take any other photos.

For sure. Pretty tough to stop someone with a set of bolt cutters. Or these days battery powered angle grinder is compact and would make quick work of about anything you could use.

I've intentionally parked my truck with chained bikes next to trucks with no cables around their bikes before. Thieves like easy prey. Survival of the fittest, not sorry.

This rack looks fantastic. They have one that bolts right to the front accessory rail. Any size tires. Don't have to remove the front wheel. I'm in love.

Has anyone seen like a reverse dash cam (bed cam) setup? I don't have any experience with dash cams but could nice in general for when your truck is out of site but you're still close by.

I have a suction cup mounted dashcam that faces the rear. helps to record what's going on behind me but mostly sees the bed of the truck. i bought ane xtra long USB cable and just threaded it under the plastic pieces of the car until i could get it to the dash where I powered it.

This past sunday (in NJ) I rode through some controlled burns that were going on in the forest...I was literally riding through flames. It was insane.

I think he is saying get some proper bike racks for the expensive sporting equipment you own that you are hauling around in that expensive Taco. It's like buying a big ass LCD TV and not spending the $ on a good electrical surge protector. IMHO.

Except that the pad is a proven proper bike rack.
