I was talking about the ARB! Would not trust the BP.

I can’t find the information currently. But those comments were “supposed” to apply to the tie downs not the hook on the off road model. From what I know it is rated for recovery. It certainly has been used on mine for yanking.

It's pretty janky metal and only attached to the subframe with 2 bolts. Doesn't seem like a good idea.

I honestly don't know for sure. Here's some good info: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/front-recovery-point.502974/

Several claim to have used it, one claims it bent, sometimes I can't tell if they're talking about the OR hook or the tie down. I do know the manual says you can use the "hook(s)" (already a bad sign) but says "This should only be attempted on hard surfaced roads.." which to me means it isn't rated for pulling out of a true recovery situation.

I found some mud on Sunday. A friend with a 4WD tractor yerked me out, from the receiver hitch/pin and two (20' and 30') straps hooked together with a dog bone. Thought about going off the front passenger side hook but I don't think that's advisable? Pulling from the rear was a better option logistically anyway.

I hate to think I need to spend $300 for a front hook but will watch here for your thoughts.

I went back with a wheeler and tamper to fix up some of the ruts, farmer relations at stake. There could have been bluegills in those ruts by summer. :)

When I joined TW last year, there was a great thread about recovery points. It covered front and rear and discussed the off road recovery hook. I can not find it now. So I have nothing to back up what I said. I am comfortable using mine for what I do. But use at your own risk...
