That and it's "Stranded" wire. More surface area for the electrons to travel along.

Extension cords are usually rated for higher current than 'code' allows for building wiring.

Building wiring is going to be stuffed into conduit with other wires, or under insulation in a hot attic. In other words they're out of sight in locations with very poor cooling, in contact with building materials. Oh, and building wiring is supposed to last 100+ years or whatever. So they have to be conservative with current ratings.

Extension cords are going to be draped across a floor in plain sight, and are always considered 'temporary,' despite the fact that most of us use them as essentially permanent outlets.

For example your typical duplex outlet is wired with 14ga wire for up to 15A devices. But look at the appliance wire on your 15A toaster or space heater, it's probably 16ga or 18ga. And the cord will get toasty warm during prolonged use. No problem on a kitchen countertop, but not something you want hiding in the walls.

Counterintuitively, thicker insulation reduces the current capacity of wiring. More insulation equals more temperature rise. Doesn't really come into play at household voltages, but this is why most power lines are bare cables suspended in the air.

Here’s some pictures of this tilting belt sander. The manual has to many pages for me to share. My boss said the laser people charged $385 to burn this out then I had to drill and tap all the holes. This isn’t even all the pieces for the sander

I just need to cut a plate for it that bolts to the crossmember also, and I was going to gusset the bends with 3/16".

My daughter wanted to play with the plasma cutter and the welder so I had her cutting and welding horse shoes to make hooks for a coat rack my wife wants. They'll get nailed to an old piece of barn wood.
Good practice because it's not structural or important and it's not even supposed to look pretty

Finally finished shooting Mandalorian season 2 after 7 months and now I’m back to working at home for a little bit! Needed a break. Been itching to get back to fabricating again.

Finished up 1 of the 25 sets of sliders today that I have to build.

I actually have a Defined brace. I will be adding gussets on the new one though. Other than that, only a few ways to skin a cat.

I picked up a load of steel to get my expo glamper build going. Also have Timbrens and some other stuff of the way too!
    20200309_123158.jpg 20200309_123220.jpg

I figured I'd ask this forum since you all are such a knowledgeable bunch. Can anybody recommend some good quality heavy duty drawer slides for building refrigerator and stove slideouts? Also going to have a rear door that opens to the side that will have a drop down counter top. Any benifits of using continuous piano hinge vs a couple heavy duty ramp door style hinges?

    Thanks!!

cant offer any advice on the drawers, but I used steel weld-on hinges from Tractor supply for my swingout table. They are darn strong.

I wish you would have asked about what iron to use. That is some way thick metal. You didn't need that thick of material.

No biggie, she'll just be a little heavy.

I was back a forth on the steel a bunch and decided to overkill it a bit lol. The .250 wall will be the main draw bar and run down the center if the trailer to where the axle crossmember is. The 11 gauge will make up the majority of the frame. It wont be a real expo rock crawling trailer due to the size (15' bumper to coupler). I don't actually overland, I call it extended deep woods glamping. I was beating the shit out of our 25' Jayco travel trailer and wanted something where I can carry around 60 gallons of water and bring stupid stuff along like a pellet smoker, and of course enough battery power to run a pellet smoker all day lol.

    * they gave me almost 5' of the cut off from the .250 wall I won't be using. Not sure if they knew that? The other .250 2x3 is what timbren recommends for the axle-less crossmember.

I don't have that one, but I bought the same brand a year ago.
New Weldpro 200 Amp Inverter... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072S5J17X?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
FWIW, it's been working well for me.
I'm not a heavy user, but I've had it running on 220 at the house and even drug it out to a barn and ran it on 110 there.
