Last Friday I finally got around to replacing a bad left rear door lock actuator. I'm glad it's a simple job, that's both my rear doors I've had to do in the last month or so.

Sunday morning I went out to my garage to start my truck before work, and my LED lights that are always on above my workbench were off. Odd. So I checked the breaker box, and sure enough, a circuit breaker was tripped. Reset the breaker, lights came on, but garage door opener still wouldn't work. Ugh. When I got home from work, I did my research, and according to the diagnostic LED flashes, it seemed a circuit board issue was most likely. Pulled out the main circuit board and didn't see or smell any issues with it. Tried a reset, still no worky. Then I noticed there's a second circuit board so I pulled it out and found this:

Now there's something you don't see every day. The little bugger (pardon the pun) actually fried hard enough to burn a trace on the circuit board. Fortunately, there's a really cool guy named Wayne in the Electronics Lab at work who loves stuff like this, so yesterday he repaired it for me, saving me a few bucks. After reassembly and reprogramming the remote, it works fine again.

I had the biggest pain in the ass replacing my drivers door actuator. The passenger took less than an hour lol

I went to a DIY shop where you rent a bay and tools. They charge $40 per hour for DIY and $60 for assisted work. I unfortunately stripped out the pan when I tried to torque the drain plug to 21 ft. lbs. This was last Sunday, 3/8. They were closed yesterday but I was able to hunt down a new pan last night.

Only one dealer in the Denver area had a pan in stock. $172 including new plugs and tax. I went back to the shop this morning and finished the flush. It came to 6 hours of shop time, 5 DIY and 1 assisted since they plugged in their scanner for the transmission temperature. So the shop fees were around $300 total.

One small mistake cost me $172 in parts. I had never done a transmission flush before and didn’t know how soft the pan was.

wish I knew!!! I’m up in Arvada and have an extra new pan just sitting on the shelf! Struggling with some busted studs in a volvo atm myself.

I'm guessing those are the fronts? The first rear took me about 20 minutes, the second one about 5-10.

Where did you get replacement headlights from? I have my stock ones that have already been replaced by Toyota due to a recall but they KEEP getting moisture in them. I have dried them out a few times and it just keeps coming back so im ready just to but some aftermarket but wanting to keep the stock look. Just up in the air on which ones to get bc a lot of reviews I have read said they have gotten moisture with aftermarkets.

Look up how to bake the headlights. You can get new Morimoto seal and reseal them yourself. I took mine apart, painted the inside casing and resealed them using the baking in the oven method. I haven’t had any moisture issues. Just a thought!

Just to update what else I added for noise suppression..

Canopy reinstalled.

I added foam and MLV to the back wall and transmission tunnel underneath the carpet.

Denim fiber insulation behind the dashboard against the firewall in a few places I could reach, inside the B-Pillar, underneath the shift boot, and inside the voids behind the kick panels.

Added 3M expanding foam to the upper B-Pillar void.

Removed front fender liners and rolled up some MLV + Reflectix about 30" long and placed them inside fender, rearward against where the doorjamb meets the fender.

Now I don't hear wind noise until 55-60mph and even then it is pretty faint, and it also heavily muted the exhaust note and resonance inside. Finally. Lots of work but the results are great. Feels like a different truck

Edit: I didn't do great at documenting this whole processb here's a few pics. The last pic shows a pen pointing at the plastic air dam that separates the area behind the fender from the door seal area. Basically it's just a flimsy thin plastic veil and behind it is all the noise and airflow from the road. So I tried to put something there to block what I could from getting past it. It worked pretty well, maybe an alternative for the dcsb people who have door whistling problems lol.

I have these same ones. I like the look and it’s nice to be able to roll down your window a bit in rain and not have it all pour down inside the cab.

Thanks! And no idea they were like 45 on Amazon so I figured why not. Supposed to help with wind noise/can crack window in rain

Decided to change up the dash and center console a tad. From factory gray to Satin black. Kinda think I should have left the center console section gray.
