I feel for ya. Stuff like this is what makes me think I just may pay to have something like this done on a vehicle of mine smh, can't believe I'm saying that but...

Did you weigh your truck? 250s sounds a little light if you're running a RTT/bedrack, camping gear, bumper, etc.

Been happy with my Alcans. They're pricey but worth it when you get beyond what an off-the-shelf leaf pack can handle. Mine were finished exactly on the quoted time frame and came out exactly to the quoted specs.

 

250# over stock carrying capacity was what Bob quoted me, the way I understood it was that would allow me to carry whatever the stock springs are normally rated for plus another 250lbs. I did give him my specs on the initial correspondence, RTT and a couple hundred lbs gear on a fully loaded trip, but day to day I don't really carry any weight with the RTT off.

Im starting to think I should double check that with him, I'll give them a call tomorrow to verify. Definitely don't want to be on the bump stops with a loaded truck

 

Oh also, did you have any trouble with the springs forcing your rear axle backward an inch or so? Was pointed out to me today that Dan ran into that issue with his and had to get a corrective spring made from Alcan to move it forward again

 

200# over stock covers the 900# I carry around in bed regularly fine, truck sits about level anyway.
They did a good job, be interesting to see what happens if they sell.

 

Does anyone have the part numbers for the studs/hardware between an elocker 3rd to the housing? Having a hard time finding them an any exploded views.

I would load your rig up as you would use it on a trip, and go weigh it. That's going to give you the best answer.

YMMV, but I would want them built to handle the weight carried when wheeling, and if they ride a little rough on the street so be it.

No. I even measured the front eye to center pin between my old pack to compare.

IMO, I think @turbodb 's orignal springs were fine, and he should have just trimmed a little bit to clear his bigger tires. It may have solved his issue, but the original springs weren't the problem.

 

That's right I remember you telling me that yours was 200... I think I should be good at 250, maybe even a little stiff unloaded but I'd rather that than have a saggy arse loaded down

Mine are rough as hell when empty, my spacer lift really compliments them.

 

When the hell did you get a spacer lift

I'm used to rough when unloaded, the Expos have familiarized me with that. Can't have it both ways I guess

Nice! We have some spots we go to up off the 260 not quite to the beeline. Also been up off 300 road but it's too busy up there.

 

I used some clips from under the front bumper off a camry or Corolla.

 

Installed a set of Spyder LED taillights. Not sure if I like them over the 01-04 stocks yet.

Usually that's only an issue with 01-04s from what I've seen, especially double cabs.

I had pretty sever rubbing with my alcans on Igor. Nothing the plates didn't fix for me though.

 

Curious what you think the issue was then?

I mean, I've seen it with other trucks as well - Monte even mentioned it with Igor. And they sell the plates, so it has to be pretty common...

Here are two pics I took on the same day, before/after.

Before - clearly the axle is not centered in the before (though, I admit that the distance to the center pin on the before is the same as on the stock leaf pack - 24 1/8").



After (much more centered - distance is 23 3/8" to center pin)




Monte @Blackdawg - did you talk to Bill about him selling the business (and did he confirm that)? Or just about ordering a pack? I'm wondering if I should order another pack for when mine eventually goes; I do like these springs...

 

I think my point is that they came with the same measurement as stock, and you moved it forward, and that not centered is not a problem.



Also, I had to trim the front of my rear wheels wells even with the longer measurement. If I had to cut another inch out I wouldn't have any flare left there.
