Spoke too soon. Got the truck back yesterday, parked it in the garage, and first thing this morning, the light is flashing again.

We’re all kind of at a loss at this point. Blue connector replaced, wiring replaced, position switch replaced, gears look great, locker functions properly, everything tested on the bench and in the truck. The guys at the shop are committed to getting the issue resolved but I think they are running out of parts to throw at it.

This only happens at start up and never when the truck is in motion. It is more frequent when cold (first start up of the day). Never happened at all before the gear install.

    Anyone have any thoughts? @Texoma @JoeCOVA @ZUK

Didnt see a locker light in that video. I saw your 4wd light flashing. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if that's the case, totally different issue.

As I sit here on the can, I’m 99.9999999% sure that is the locker light but I’ll go out and double check when I’m....finished.

Had me second guessing my entire reality there....it is definitely the locker light.

    Note:

This video is actually me pressing the locker button to get the light to illuminate which is why you hear the beeping sound. When it flashes on its own, no sound.

Ok, my eyes weren't good enough to see the little X. So, only other things I can think of is that there may be a short in the wire or the tabs the hold the carrier to the housing are bent or broken.

Thanks for the additional info. I believe the wire has been replaced and he has had the carrier in and out several times so I can't imagine bent mounting tabs are the issue but I will definitely let him know.

This is super frustrating to say the least!

You can see the tabs in the pic that are on the carrier. I seriously doubt it's the issue, but at least you know what to look at. There's the one visible in the pic on top, and another not visible in pic on bottom.

Just recently joined the 5.29 group and have a few questions. Haven't done much driving, but short trips and cooling. Nothing more that 15-20 miles at a time and checking temps. How crucial is front diff break break in before actually using 4wd? And has anyone switched to synthetic after break in?

What's your thoughts on synthetic fluid? I know ecgs doesn't reccomend, yet nitro sells and reccomend their fluid which is synthetic

Alright, it's going in again tomorrow and they have a Toyota master tech checking it out tomorrow as well. While I think they are totally speculating at this point, the current theory is that there is a voltage spike causing the magnet in the locker to briefly attempt to engage at start up. This is pushing the sensor just a tiny bit which is registering this error. This COULD be related to the electrical issues that my truck is having in this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...igns-squadron-sports-for-drl-failures.642519/

we will see but of course this issue never arose until the new gears were installed. I'm just glad the shop is really stepping up to make sure this is being taken care of!

You can order them REM polished. I found a place in New York that seems to know what they're doing. Also a place in Arizona.

I sent my gears and bearings to Cryo heat in Oceanside, Ca. They do micro polishing and cryo in house.
