Just got back from Jamaica and wish Toyota would bring these to the US. I wonder what the gas mileage is on these babies. I've seen them roaming around S. America too, and know they are pretty popular in Asia.

from what i understand there are 2 classifications for diesel motors in the U.S. full size F-250 size and then cars and non full size trucks are lumped into the same classification as far as emission controls go. this makes it impossible for a truck the size of ours to have decent power at an affordable cost that can meet these emissions. Thanks California.

again this is what i understand i may be wrong on this.

Yes... Fucking treehuggers. Funny is that they are modified diesels running around which pollute WAY, WAY more than the 3.0 Hilux

Yeah it makes me really mad when I see a full size truck running down the road and every time they touch the gas it spits out a black cloud. This is what has given diesel such a bad name, and the reason that we cant have it in our trucks.

can you import one of these? so base cost of a hilux is what 25000 for a double cab with a diesel? then i have no idea what it costs to import one or if this is possible due to the airbag situation and it wont meet smog in the U.S. no problem for me (Alabama is still not sure what smog testing is i really hope it stays this way) but i would think others in the states would have problems.

A friend of mine from work has a huge Dodge. He pulled all the emissions stuff off of it and tossed the stuff to get more power. Now, California is going to start putting emissions requirements on these trucks as well. I believe it will be retroactive back to 2007. That means he's going to have to buy all that crap and put it back on to pass.

Pretty ugly. Reminds me of a Rav4 pickup.

This is going to cost him a ton, just the filter in the exhaust is going to run him about 3 grand. that really sucks.
