To all Tacoma TRD Sport, 4x4, 4 door owners. I own a 2007 and have been experiencing what started out as a grinding feel in my steering wheel and pedals as i accelerated turnning left from a stop. No help from Toyota mechanics when I took it in for service. The grinding has become more noticable under normal driving conditions, not only left turns but at all speeds on a straight road. Has anyone exerienced this and had it fixed. Have a feeling it has something to do with the 4 wheel drive. Thanks.

Hey, yes and yes. I had the same problem. From a stop and turning left. Toyota ended up replacing my rear diff. I was told it had incorrect back spacing.

    just a couple comfort items.
You may want to jack up the front of the truck and give the front wheels a spin by hand Just to rule out front wheel bearings.

Some of these posts are old and was wondering what happened. As I have a 2006 Tacoma, when in 2 wheel drivwe no issues, however when I put in 4 hi or 4 low when going slow like backing out of a driveway or pulling in, feels like the truck barle wants to move, jerks and shakes a bit, seems to only happen when I'm going real slow and turning, to my knowledge everything on the truck is still stock (I picked it up used about 2 months ago) did not really notice until I went to the cottage and had to put it in 4x4 to get down an old muddy road one day, then I have been testing and noticed when going slow and turning it vibrates a lot or shakes, jerks etc.. before I took it in wanted to see if anyone else has expierened this or waht it may be as it drives fins in 2 only.

if its only shaking/jerking when you are turning that could be normal...and bad. making too sharp of a turn with 4x engaged (lo or hi) can cause the driveshaft and rear end to bind up and tear things up internally.
