external bec would be a better idea, or a new esc with a better internal bec, or a protek 130T

Thoughts on the Hobbywing 1080? Possibly interested in upgrading the motor, but don't want to go so big as to tear up everything else down the line, at least not right away.

A glitch buster is cheap so you could give it a try. When I burned up that 2290, I first went to Hobbytown and bought a Glitch Buster. They told me it probably wouldn't fix it, but to give it a shot and return it if not. That's just what I did, tried it and returned it along with the Savox.

1080 is a good basic ESC. For what it's worth, all of us have switched to Brushless since getting into this and will probably never go back to brushed.

The brushless is a more significant cost investment at this point, but it might be the right move. Budget smudget....

It’d be really cool if there was still a hobby shop on this side of town.

@imthejaybird This is really the best advise, lol. We can generally, atleast, keep you from buying something you will have to replace sooner than later. As @Suprajim54 stated, we’ve all went brushless, but the 1080 is extremely popular, and can be on the competitive level with combined with quality motor (Holmes hobbies, team brood are known powerhouses. I run HH brushless motors in both my rigs and am def happy.) The cheap type (RC4WD) are just a bandaid. As soon as you really put em to work, they’ll start to smoke on you, lol. Which savox did you get? I blew out 4-5(?) 0231 servos due to soft gears. Their customer service was fine, but finally bit the bullet on a protek370tbl, and gets two thumbs up. It’s not cheap, so my next recommendation is a shift rc servo. I think he is currently out of stock, but at $89, this thing is baddddd. I had to turn it down, significantly, on the bouncer because it was just too fast.

How many times have you repaired the gears on the ShiftRC servo in the 2 months you've had it? At least he's got good customer service....

I got the 0231 Savox. It’s cheap, but the Amazon special I got was already getting super hot. I’ll bite the bullet on that when I get there. I was looking at HH today and like his stuff, so I might end up going that way once I save up a little more cash.

Chris Wiser on Facebook had his new Holmes servo burn out on his second battery pack. Again, I hear Holmes customer service is good. I've also tried Reef's 444 but took it off because it was too weak for my rig. It did not have the power to move the truck if the wheels were bound up. I never really had any other issues with it. Zac had an issue with his Reef's 555 glitching out and the guy was kind of a jerk to him, but it did get fixed. It seems the little guys don't always like to be criticized when their products fail or underperform. Buy a big name brand from somewhere like Amain or Hobbytown and it gets taken care of quickly and smoothly.

3 teeth broken. I had a loose pin, whether it was a defect or busted on the initial break, will never know. Owner was super quick to reply, no questions asked. Sent me a brand new replacement, and haven’t had any issues yet. He was 100% okay with me posting my issues, I just haven’t seen the need to do so.

My homie, in Denton. Business is called Ink Nation. You can go to sanmar.com if you want to pick specific styles. The price you see doesn’t necessarily mean that’s their actual cost. Lemme know, and I’ll put you in touch. Also have another connect, need to reach out to that does coozies and other promo items. Maybe we can save some skrill if we combine orders.

How does a fella come to be in possession of a BYS shirt? Is it an honor bestowed upon a worth individual, like Thor and Mjolnir? Or do I just buy one?

They’re for purchase, need to put an order in soon, currently empty on all stock. Still have @ThorsTRD hoodie if he can ever get away from work! Big Rocks comps this weekend and next for anyone interested! This weekend is a team comp, next weekend is diehard comp, along with bouncer comp.
