I hate to say it but the man is right. For what it is though I’d try it

@Kwikvette @cruiserguy I figured out my steering popping, wasn't the tie rods or the rack bushings. A couple weeks ago I thought I'd see if my steering rack guide was loose because my tires have some turning play in them when jacked up off the ground. I ended up tightening the rack guide a tiny bit, like maybe a 1 or 2mm turn. But apparently that was enough to overdo it because a week or so later it started making a terrible popping noise when I turned the wheel left.

This AM I crawled under and loosened the rack guide back to where it was, popping noise is completely gone now. Crazy how such a small change in the guide can make that much difference.

Read somewhere recently the torque spec on it is only 19ft lbs and then a "quarter turn" loose, whatever that means lol. But its definitely not very much. Luckily I marked it before I moved it before so I just put it back to where it was

That’s some good news and food for thought.

Well the thing is, for most people a popping noise when turning is probably going to be something else, unless you're dumb like me and tried messing with your steering rack guide recently lol

Yeah I’ve got a clunk and I’m pretty sure it’s my sway bar bushing but I’m still gonna send it lol

Yeah that could definitely be it, I got rid of my sway bar awhile ago so it's a non-issue but from what I hear they can be noisy

Torque to 19 ft lb then back loosen it a quarter turn :luvya:

A lot of things need X force to seat correctly but not to remain in place. My rear hubs I had to torque to 150 ft/lb to seat the bearings, then backed it off and torqued it to 50 ft/lb

thing is, when I tried doing the "back a quarter turn" after hitting 19ft lbs bit, it makes it super loose. Like spinning with your fingers loose. I can back it off a couple mm's after 19 ft lbs but any more than that is too much.

I'll keep an eye on it but I'm just glad the horrid clunk is gone now, thought I may have ruined my steering rack at first.

Interesting that it got worse with such a small adjustment.

What about the grease you found on your TRE?

Couldn't find a tear anywhere on the boot, just figured it was leftover mess from one of the CV axle boot tears last summer that I didn't completely clean up

I've seen 01x4 around in other threads, I suspect area51runner has headed for the hills to wait out this whole COVID19 thing

No but last night I told him that he might be happier living somewhere else.

Stuff around the house came up after he clogged the toilet with wetwipes. Also, he said he'd get rid of his old car by the end of Jan but has consistently failed to do so. He started to fall back on "I commute 2 hours each way since I don't have a car and have to take the bus". I told him if he's enjoying the public transit he should consider living somewhere closer to work. I have a shit ton of commute time and I still take care of shit around the house so that's no excuse. he then said he didn't want to blame me but if I had given him more strict chores/enforcement he would do better

Also, I'm not sure if I'll be keeping the house and if I sell it he'll be leaving anyways.. but i would rather have that happen sooner than later

why the hell is a guy putting wet wipes down the toilet? Maybe I don't want to know...

My wife has major issues with her clients doing that at her studios, especially the new one because it's in a building with really old plumbing. Probably 95% of her clientele are women and despite the 4 signs in the bathroom saying not to put anything other than toilet paper down the toilet, people still do it. Every 6 weeks or so she has to have a plumber come out and fix it. One time it caused the studio to flood with poo water, it was not fun

Yeah, I've had muliple convos with him where I told him if it wasn't shit, piss, or cum, it does not go down the toilet unless it's TP. Not paper towels. not flushable wipes. Nothing

He denied denied denied... then texted me 30 minutes later admitting he uses them occasionally. I told him it was probably stuck in there from the last time and contributed to the clog :homer:
