Yes! Dr fussed at me yesterday telling Me I was doing too much. All I’m to do is sit. Longer I misbehave, longer drains have to stay in. So all I’ve done is sit and go to bathroom. I’m behaving!

My kids still complain that I don't have a smart phone. their too lazy to pick up the phone and call me. they'd rather text me, and I told them years ago. I don't text, skype, on any of that other new shit. you can call me, write me a letter, or come and see me. I won't hold my breath on the last option.

@TooTallJAMZ , if your still having problems with your lower back, keep a good eye (CT Scans) etc on it. I waited 5 years before I did my first surgery, and by then my lower back was a train wreck. I should have done it maybe by year 2 at the latest. Me being hard headed and waiting so long only made things worse. Good luck with your decisions. I pushed myself a little today and walked a complete mile, and felt pretty good afterwards.

You said he thought you popped an internal suture too right? Glad you're listening to him. Having drains in SUCKS!! I've had them a couple of times and dealt with six that my wife had after her post mastectomy reconstruction. I'd think the treat of them staying in longer would be a good enough reason to relax and do nothing as hard as that is!

Yes, he said he thought I may have popped one. But he said everything still looks good. It’s hard, but I’m trying to do as little as possible. Longer drains are in = greater chance of infection. Taking all these antibiotics sucks too.

I remember my mom having a drain when she had her mastectomy. I wouldn't wish these things on any one.

@Sammie, I feel for you brother. I had a drain in my back after my first surgery. Lucky for me they removed it before I left the hospital, but I hated that dam thing having to hold the bag when I went to the toilet every time. Just be patient and listen to what the dr. tells you, in the long run you'll be better off.

My job ( Surgical Services Mgmt) keeps me close to my surgeon and his assistant and they're always scrutinizing the way I walk. They've seen me at my best and worst and always ask how things are if they observe that I'm not feeling great.

I was forced to wait longer than usual to have my first back surgery done because I was only 18 and the Dr. wanted to wait as long as possible to avoid having to operate on such a young person. As a result I have some permanent nerve damage and have not felt my toes on my left foot since then.

While I'm not an alarmist I am also not one to wait when I know things are getting bad. All I have to do is send a text message to one of them when things flare up and they immediately order a scan.

That's great about the complete mile man!! You're gettin' out there and doing it. One of the most important things for us is to stay as active as possible. Being sedentary helps nothing. My doc wants you lying flat only for two hours post op. As soon as that time is up, he expects you to be up and walking and high stepping as much as possible.

    That's great!

Drains are no fun on either side. Antibiotics oral? Upsetting your stomach? Are you taking a probiotic or at least eating yogurt while you're taking the course?

Yes, oral. I’m not but maybe I should start. He’s already said as long as drains are in I’ll be on antibiotics too. I’ll have my mom pick some yogurt up.

Did try dry shampoo today. Undecided on it yet.

@TooTallJAMZ , dam dude, 18 years old and facing back surgery would have freaked me the hell out. I was 58 I think when I had my first one, but the next 2 came within a year of the first one. Glad to hear that your staying on top of things. I've also have some weird nerve damage. My left thigh is numb most of the time, and there are days when I feel like the end of my toes are going to explode for a better way of putting it. but I'm sure your similar to me. take things one day at at time.
