    Do you guys do recommendations?

I'm going on a bachelor party this weekend, and would like to bring a decent bottle of bourbon, reasonably priced, maybe about $20-50 (I live in CA, I'm sure location matters in pricing).

Not look for a particular flavor profile, just something smooth, drinkable neat/rocks. TIA!

Got a Total Wine near you? Four Roses OBSV single barrel select is good or Eagle Rare would be another.

What’s the scoop on Elijah Craig? It seems to be popular among those in the thread.

Me personally? I think it's just a smooth drink.. sipping it straight up and even the barrel proof to me is an easy sipper.
I do mix it with a little Mountain Dew now and then which will probably piss off the masses here.. but IDGAF.
Mountain Dew was actually invented as a whiskey mixer so why not?
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Dew#:~:text=Origin,the two developed their own.

the basic stuff is bang for buck terrific if you like it balanced and rounded. at 94 proof it's good off the shelf and easy to find. next step up is the barrel proof, harder to find and I'm sure it's great but i haven't scored the barrel proof yet myself. EC has been my go to and I'm happy with it.

Yessir, those are older bottles

Haven't had a bad batch, but the older ones are better than recent years IMO.

I picked up Woodford Reserved double barrel as a gift to a good friend. He likes it so much I got a bottle for myself and enjoyed it. 90 proof also, a lil hot goin down but smooth.

Dunno, but it’s my favorite at this point. There are a lot of other good ones out there too, but EC is my go-to. There’s also an Elijah Craig Barrel Proof which I like even a little bit more (has a little extra bite which I like), but it’s 127 proof (and is more expensive), so I save it only for special occasions

Do you have a Costco near you? That's the best choice to find the ECBP.. everywhere else is charging way too much for it

Heaven Hill makes the best stuff this side of the Atlantic, and Elijah Craig is their biggest brand.

    Drink up!
