There are different percentages of propane.
There are charts that are listed on websites.

I haven't seen any difference in performance between the jetboil and coleman brand.

I like the JetBoil branded ones, but have used plenty from MSR and others as well

I just bought a (Jetboil brand) 100g can at REI for $4.99. I think that's the "standard" price in stores. If that's the price at REI, definitely wouldn't pay more.

I also bought a Jetboil coffee press at REI. Can't wait to try it out. FYI: there are two sizes of the Jetboil coffee press, depending on your specific model, so if you order one, make sure it fits your stove.

I've been using a MSR Whisperlite Universal, and just bought a Jetboil Micromo to give me another (lighter) option for backpacking.

Just a bunch of old crap
MSR is the best canister stove fuel blend. Most efficient overall per boil, and performs great at higher altitudes and colder temps.

Hey y'all just found this thread! Getting into back country hunting this year. Much of the basics between the two apply for both. Looking forward to reading through!

About the only things that change when I backpack vs hunt is the backpack and extra equipment need for killing and processing. All told it’s about an extra 20lbs including the rifle.

That's quite a jump, wheres all the weight coming from? (I know the rifle accounts for a large chunk of that)

About 8lbs ish for the rifle/ammo, two knives, rubber gloves, game bags, rope, etc. It might not be 20lbs but it's a fairly significant weight increase.

Yep 20 sounds about right to me. Couple knives, bags, rifle, ammo, a little extra water for rinsing my hands after.

shit adds up quick. Making a trip to Montana in Sept for a bow hunting trip. I’m a little worried I’m gonna be carrying a whole lot of weight for that one

Where/what ya huntin? Keep your eyes open for updates from Fwp. Lots of western states are closing their spring seasons for non residents because of The virus. And may very well carry over that closure to fall season.

Southwest Montana. Deadline for application was 4/1 and at that point they hadn’t made any announcement. If they do, I’m gonna be pissed if I don’t get a refund at very least

Nice! As of right now we haven’t received word as residents for closures. I would imagine they would have to refund you but idk how out of state hunting works at all.

I would imagine they would have announced something already. Spring turkey opens next weekend and spring bear opens the following Wednesday so I think it’s a little to late haha

    Just the basics
Not specifically a gear video but I watched the whole thing last night. Really good videography, editing, and narration. Not overdone. Take a long trip through the Grand Canyon:

Yea I went to the fwp and it said that turkey and bear were still on.

I’m doing an elk hunt so they have several months still to cancel that shit on me :anonymous:

What are you guys using for late season hunting tents? Curious if you’re doing anything different than a regular backpacking tent due to possible cold weather.

In Colorado last year I just stuck with my Big Agnes fly creek UL1 and my mountain hardwear 20 degree bag. I sleep super warm though.

we also had an RV for the last bit of time. I ended up sleeping in there
