What I find funny is Alabama has only tested 20 people. All were negative. I'm absolutely convinced that there have been way more than the 1200 known cases.

the fact that Italy went from like 70 to over 10,000 in 2 weeks tells me you're correct.

Jeffery Dahmer ate more people than the coronavirus has killed in the US. It's just the latest thing to freak out about.

you say that, and you're correct as far as numbers go....SO FAR, but the way to make it stay like that is to be proactive...not to joke about it and do nothing and just pretend it's not bad.

Look at the people it kills. Elderly and people with preexisting conditions. No different than the flu.....except it's not as bad on kids.
People should take the same precautions. This isn't the black plague.
I remember the same reaction when ebola hit.

all of this is the case RIGHT NOW. there are still too many unknowns for you to factually say it's not something to worry about.

I'm not saying "panic" or that any crazy reactions are the right thing to do, I just think being proactive is better than being reactive. Clearly they can't stop the spread of it, so that's alarming in the least. I'm obviously in the demographic that is really unconcerned about catching it, but that doesn't mean I'm not a carrier that could get someone else infected/killed.

Again, I'm not saying panic, but I'm also not saying play it down and make it into nothing. It's a pandemic for a reason, and that's not because of the media.

According the the news, while the flu has killed more people, the death rate compared to the flu is over 10 times as bad. Not sure where they got their numbers but that is bad. In that case I would rather get the flu.

Hence the reasoning of me typing "same precautions'. It has the same basic symptoms as the flu.

Proactive? We are ready to shelter in place for at least 3 weeks with food, water, shelter, meds and a pallet of ammo to fight a small war. As funny as it sounds, Jeannie and I are semi-preppers. Not saying that anything bad is going to happen, but you can never be too prepared. When you have more to think about than just yourself, you tend to think this way. Hell, the National Guard has already been activated to quarantine certain cities in NY. A rhetorical question, but if you had to shelter in place for a week, would you have all the supplies you need?

the media you are getting those numbers from is vastly different than the media everyone else is getting their numbers from.

one reaction to media reports is far superior to another reaction to media reports. everyone is now viral and disease experts and qualified doctors with 50 years experience, everyone.

That's b/c the flu is easily diagnosed. I'd be willing to bet there are A LOT of covid-19 cases that are not only undiagnosed, but misdiagnosed as flu.

    I'm sure,
But like Scotty said, better to be proactive because the everyday citizen only knows a little bit of truth mixed in with a lot of panic.
I hope everyone is over reacting but saying this is nothing, could be a problem.

I've never said it wasn't a problem. I'm saying take the normal flu precautions and keep moving on. Working in the ER and being a diabetic makes me take precautions, but I don't let it panic me.

I agree with you. It's always good to take precautions. No different than carrying a spare tire, tools and CV axle with you when you're out on the trail. I just refuse to live my life in fear and I refuse to be a victim.
