It's secure.

I'm still not sure I'm happy with how long it runs. It will run for a couple of days but then needs to be shut off so it will take a full charge again. Kind of annoying.

You run it 24/7? I think I’d really only run it during the summer on the hottest of days when I have stuff in the bed I don’t want completely melted (i.e. some of my fishing plastics and float tube).

otherwise I’d be using it for when I sleep up there, once a month at least.

 

Why do you need to run it 24/7? The dogs don’t live in the GFC do they? Haha.

Another quick question for you guys. Anybody know what thickness the honeycomb panel on the floor is? I feel like I've heard 1" but cant find it again anywhere to confirm.

 

seems about right... thicker than the roof

 

Finally got all my parts in for my solar wire up. Eventually I wan to incorporate this all into a drawer system but going back and forth on exactly what with the wife.
Wired up a junction box upstairs with a dimmer switch USB and cigarette charger

 

Do these lock out really well (do they rock back and forth during break/acceleration at all?) Can you lock them out in any position?

They really only lock out when closed and fully extended, but I think mine kind of lock in a mid position. They don't move at all when closed.

 

They don't move when locked in. You need to press the tabs to pull the drawer open.

 

figure i'll post a few GFC updates here too...

wanted a storage option for my jack, spare parts, recovery gear and other small items. the storage will also double as a dog bed at night for one of the doggos. big dog will most likely be on the floor where there should be more space.

redwood baseboard and stained pine top.


split the front lids to allow easier access in case i have items on top. added a couple magnets to help keep the lids closed while bouncing around.




baseboard is easily removable with a couple of pins. allows for more space if needed as well as easy access for larger items i wanted to store like our propane firepit and toilet that might be tougher to get in the main opening. the magnets also help to keep the baseboard lined up since the pins do allow for rotational movement.

 

fan updates...

swapped out the fan cover to a flat lid to save a couple inches of clearance. talked with dometic and they were able to warranty me a different lid since there was not an option to get the flat lid at purchase. it comes with the flat lid (i chose to go with white vs the smoked) and a new lever that needs to be installed since the slide track is different between the flat lid and the domed lid.





finished up wiring up the Dometic fantastic fan








i have the fan going into my blue seas power bank which also is used to turn power to the bed lights and my hatch light. there's 2 usb ports as well as a cig lighter port. i still have some sealing to do behind the panel so i haven't final mounted it yet, so it's being held in with gorilla tape now

 

Very nice, I had a similar switch bank installed in the cubby but recently moved it up because of the Flight Deck install.

 

Got my solar fan installed – thanks for the great idea, @slowboater! Super easy install, hardest part was cleaning up all the roof dust afterwards. Also cut a piece of 3/4" ply to keep the tent door from dropping down. Works great.

I still need to cut the board to keep the tent material from drooping. It's warming up this week so I might be able to get it done soon.

 

Just curious what everyone’s gas mileage is looking like with the gfc? I’m getting around 14-16 at 75mph
