It looks like after years and years of wanting a Taco I'm finally going to get one and I'm looking to order one from my local dealership because the exact model isn't very common which is a Manual Trd sport access cab in Barcelona Red metallic. I know I want the new headlights for 2020 but beside that I'm not sure if there is any other options that are worth getting. Like is the premium package, tech package, or any of the accessories worth getting? Is there any options y'all regret getting or not getting? I live up in North Florida on the panhandle about an hour east of Pensacola so I believe heated seats are kind of a waste but would the dual zone climate control be worth it that's included in the same package as heated seats? Also I'm kinda going back and forth between the Barcelona Red or Super White. I like the red because its different you don't really see it all the time and its similar to the color of my first truck Chevy S10 but I notice that it seems that most older vehicles of a similar color their clear coats are almost always gone so that worries me because I plan on keeping this thing forever. I like the white too because it looks super clean and doesn't get as hot sitting in the sun (I'm from VA literally just moved to FL this weekend and really prefer cold weather, I HATE hot weather) but the white also doesn't really standout at all because it would look so similar to a fleet vehicle. I'm really just looking for feed back on all the things discussed above.

I have that Taco, but a few years older. Zero real complaints or regrets. I didn't want auto headlights or auto climate control and didn't need heated seats with a cloth interior. I just wanted an AC, a LB, an MT, and the tow package. I would have liked the choice of an OR versus Sport, but since that is impossible . . .

Of course, TW inspired too many mods, but that's life.

One comment on SuperWhite. I believe it is a one step process, so no clear coat. I think there is an option for clear on SW for some Toyota models. Not sure about the Taco. In the FL sun, that may or may not be a problem? Just something to research if you going to keep it long term.

Tonered what have you done to yours? I have a huge list of things I want to do once I but money will be the issue unfortunately because everything for these trucks seems to be so expensive. I'm definitely do a lift wheels and tires first then the SSO slimline bumper and smittybuilt winch.

I like to play with it on road and off, so a lift is pretty low on my list. I'd like a skid and a couple other small things before getting into bigger $$$ items. Other than my Softopper and OVTuned, most of my mod money was small potatoes coming from credit card rewards points and such.

You can see what I did in my weaksauce build thread in my signature.

In the end, the Taco is a blank slate with a bit too much mod support. LoL! :spending: Make it how you like it!

Regarding packages, you will be 100% fine with just the LED headlights. All the other packages weren't worth the added cost. All in my opinion of course :)

I have a 2020 with LED lights and Premium package. LEDs were a must for me and for the cost I don't know why anyone who orders one wouldn't get them. At first I didn't really care for the Premium package but the dealer gave me enough off MSRP that I didn't care. With that said I do really enjoy the heated seats and auto headlights are more useful than I thought working nights and doing a lot of driving in the dark. I had no interest in a Technology package or any other add ons besides a bedmat and all weather floor mats. Really comes down to how much you want to pay..

Tacos look great in every color but SW and Barcelona are my favorite. I drive the white one in the pic.

Not sure if you mentioned going with 4x4 or 2wd. Definitely go 4x4 if you can.

I’ve heard members saying that heated seats are great for their back on long drives so that’s something to consider. I don’t have the tech package tho, it’s hard to say if it’s worthwhile.

I do absolutely recommend ceramic coating no matter what color you have, but as someone mentioned the super white is thin and has been known to chip and flake. It’s also great if your climate has a lot of precipitation, every once in a while a good rainstorm cleans all the dirt off the truck and saves a few bucks on a car wash

I'm not a paint expert, I like Barcelona red and have seen the clear coat peeling on them when they get older, but I've also seen alot of chalky dull white toyotas also.
Just get what you want and keep it waxed or buy one of those metal carport things. My truck got waxed some but I didnt keep up with it good and its sat outside every day since I got it in 2009 it's a 06 model, and only the clear is starting to peel a little on the plastic fender flares and bumper. I had one fender flare repainted about two years ago. It was alot worse that the others.

Also in the market for a manual AC and depending on where you live, they can be in short supply. I'm in Cincinnati, and there are only 3 within 150 miles, none of which are local. However, for whatever reason there is quite a supply in the Northern VA/Wash DC area. Can only guess Toyota knows the demographics and what sells where.

I'm looking to get a 4x4 with LED's, and probably the Premium package. Hoping to find one in Voodoo Blue, however there is only 1 available nationwide at the moment per Car Gurus. I'm in no hurry but am hoping to make it happen this summer even if it means taking a cheap flight to DC and driving back. And also agree that the current state of the world could impact sale prices one way or another so that should be an interesting dynamic.

Best of luck in your search.

I'm from Virginia Beach which is about 3 hours south from DC and in the area they buy Tacoma's like everyone is buying toilet paper for the corona virus. I believe the Toyota dealer in Chesapeake the town next to mine is the #1 truck dealer for Tacoma's and tundras in the us or at least the region.
If you cant find one that you like you can go to any dealer and order exactly what you want but you'll have to wait for it.

My only issue with ordering is that I imagine you lose most of your leverage to negotiate price. I've already decided that if I can't get the color I want, I'll fall back to cement or maybe gray as there seem to be plenty of those.

Just a note. All MTs are 4x4 models. That surprised me the first time that I heard it.

Im gonna negotiate the hell out of mine. if you have a Samsclub membership that like automatically gets you like 2 grand off the purchase price if you go thru them and you dont pay for it up front. You just pay a deposit and then wait for it. once it comes in is when you start and because its not a very sought after spec they are going to want to sell it to you because they dont want it sitting on their lot for months and months because no one wants it.

I did research it beforehand, but I wanted 4x4 regardless. It never dawned on me about that until someone mentioned it. I recall surprise by more folks than just me.

X2 on ceramic coating. The paint is super thin.

I had no issue negotiating on something that wasn't on the lot and that they had to order. If you have even a semi-high volume dealer near you, they want to move cars. I couldn't imagine spending $40k on a vehicle and not getting exactly what I wanted down to the color and individual options.

I went Access Cab 4x4 Manual last year on my 2019, I got the tech package no premium. I love the thing, but heated seats and a Sun Roof would be fun (California).

If I were you, don't settle. Get whatever you want, buy once cry once.

FWIW: In 2018 I bought a 2019 2X4 2.7 Bacelona Red AC SR Taco... That thing was 'Bute for sure I loved it, it was my first Tacoma. It only took 11 months before I was looking for the truck I should have bought in the first place... 4X4 V6 6MT. But I went with black on my new truck, and its sexy as hell.

I have the 2019 TRDSport MT DCSB- It was the only manual available in three states. Didn't have much to bargain with because they knew it was the only one available in the area. So, I took what the Toyota "Specials" were for that month- 1.9% APR and $1,250 cash back. Other than that they didn't budge. I absolutely love this color! I had a 2001 AC manual that had the 4 banger and it was peppy- This V6 is so much more than I expected! Let the Mods begin!
