Maybe, or I should make my coffee a little less strong:D Guess I dont really care one way or the other, and my last post was very "coffee fueled";) Just figured I would:stirthepot::stirthepot:

I think Atrac is great, lockers and great, my truck is great. I look forward to the upcoming locked front and rear vs. Atrac battles....Look forward to the videos brought on by those who can truly test these pickups, as I wish I could do but dont have the bank to fix them when breaking stuff pushing the limits. Thank you Toyota for providing us with the Atrac option. It sounds like a great system and I accept why some are so exited, if not a little overboard exited about it:)

    End rant

Damn Seattles Best dark bold. Started off with a few tablespoons a year ago, then a few more, then I just started dumping in a heap into the filter, then just a little more, until I think Im going 2 have a stroke after a few cups:eek: Drives the old lady crazy:goingcrazy:, I'm high strung as it is! Better than hittin the brown bottle like I used to, that was just a death sentence. After reading page after page, thread after thread about how Atrac is better, no lockers, no atrac, no prerunners,05-08 off-roads, 09+ OR's, sports, ARB's, base models, 1st gens, fjs, 4runners, land rovers, new tech, old tech...AHHHHHHH!!!! JUST DRIVE THE %#CKIN THING ALREADY:goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy::goingcrazy::puke:
BTW, I love that little smile running around, fists in the air! Gawd I feel that way alot...Love this site, just need to take a deep breath and stop reading a thread when its obviously going nowhere and feel like I need to put in my .02, just abort and hit BACK!!!
Thank you for your patience, I need it to snow so I can relieve some of this energy on the mountain!!!!

It isn't in Canada, but if you want the tow package, you need to get the off road model", up here it is not a package. The "skidplates" are pathetic. Other brands (name withheld to limit flaming), have 14 gauge skidplades that actually take a few hits. I also think the OR's should have the beefiest diffs, not the wimpiest. Actual Off Road tires would be nice, AT's instead of Rugged Trails, no drawback there, except mileage.:stirthepot:
    End Rant

Those of us who prefer to drive un modified leased vehicles will never have front lockers, that's why I think it is very cool. It breaks, Toyota fixes it.

Exactly! Just get a TRD Sport for the seats and put some air lockers in the front and back! :D

ah that sucks if you need OR to get tow package.
x2 on wimpy elocked axle. thats why for me it was not worth the money almost 4K extra for really only sticker. everything else would have to get upgraded at some point of lifetime. Skidplates, suspension, diffs. tires, wimpy cross members, and whatever else is there.

That was the point I was driving with Dave. I fully understand that for those that lease their trucks with out means of modifying them, Atrac is very good addition. it comes from factory covered by warranty and 90% of time thats all you will need. Hard to imagine leased truck going for other 10%. Plus since truck is leased you will get rid of it before cost of repairing traction related components will make a value of the truck go down. So yeah all the benefits but none of the cons.
But thats for people leasing for others not very good money buy. :)

shh dont give up secrets :D

Help me with the logic, here:

Buys a Sport for the seats... then pays how much for the traction upgrades? My Off Road has seats and I pay nothing for the traction system that takes me everywhere lockers can.

I was told that brake equipment (what makes A-TRAC work) is longer lasting and less costly (should it need fixing) then add on locking differentials. If a differential blows you are dead in the water, if A-TRAC blows, you simply continue on with open differentials.

    Just wondering... ;)

I dont know about that logic, if differential blows Atrac or not you dont have anything. But if you snap axle with locker you will be able to continue in 3 wheel mode . If front locker is dead you still have rear one and opposite. If you snap CV you just keep it locked and continue in 3 wheel drive paying attention to where you going. It is that fault tolerance that makes it great.
Also remember when you installing ARB you have chance to upgrade gears, bearings and add solid spacer.

I live in the land of sand stone ledges. I do need it. ATRAC in front is great but I would rather have an ARB up there. I even consider adding a locker to the front but that's a lot of money just to upgrade from "quite good" to "great".

Axles aren't the weak link in our rear ends. The diff is. You're more likely gonna grenade a ring and pinion than bust a drive axle. I know. I did it. In fact I have a whole thread about my experience.

Up front is another story. The axles are the weak link.

Yes, you are correct. Most don't need it. Most don't even need four wheel drive much less any advanced traction systems.

    I need a front locker....

    Trails here are intense...

    If I had atrac and rear locker I prolly wouldn't need a f locker. But I don't.
