Yeah, I had a DR's appointment today and his office is at St. Mark's hospital. I was questioned multiple times about my health condition. Had to wear a sticker so people would know I've been questioned, then once I made it to the DR's office I had to fill out another questionnaire about my current health condition and if I've traveled over the last fourteen days.

Asked my doctor about it once i got through the Corvid-19 security. He couldn't figure out what all the hysteria was about either.

They aren't. All the classes I teach are hands-on, practical learning. We're screwed...

So what’s your plan? I heard it was kind of up to the teachers.
My labs could be done if they wanted us to just do the reports, but thats basically just more homework like we did in class.

We're working on options now. Some courses will be able to get away with recorded demonstration videos and streaming. Others might try to do lecture time online, and then condense lab time later after (if?) the restrictions are lifted.
Some will be harder than others. We have a few courses that include certification/testing with an outside agency. I'm not sure how that's going to go.

Saw some great data graphics that I've been trying to refind all day.

Basically graphs out how contagious, deadly, etc this edition is and its pretty in line with MERS, SARS, Swine Flu, etc. But the last one was number of mentions in the media. All the earlier ones were mentioned ~250 million times across all media during their spread. Corona Virus has already exceeded 1.2 BILLION mentions

i saw it here because a friend posted it: https://www.instagram.com/p/B9nrTQVpchF/

as far as dangerous infectious diseases go....this isn't anything super alarming. it's spreading like wildfire because it's new but it's not super deadly. and I don't think the media is helping keep the hospital visits down. the bigger concern right now is overloading a healthcare system...

Thats exactly the graphic I was looking for. Now that you mention it, it was in a COVID thread here on TW.

I agree, I think the media is blowing this thing out of the water. I am curious how many people have had it already and have gotten over it naturally.

Considering the symptoms are identical to the flu or a head cold, I'd say a lot.

yea. and majority of cases, it's a MILD symptoms scenario. You probably wouldn't ever even realize you had it unless you got tested.

The whole damn economy is going to be shut down. Any event with a gathering larger than two has been cancelled.

    The world has gone mad.

I guess the one good thing to COVID-19 is I don't have to hear about political crap as much :D

We did a test WFH for our whole company on Tuesday (not a big deal for my groups, they WFH quite often anyways). Then today they just announced that we will be WFH for at least 2 weeks. Being in IT, it's super easy for me to do my job from almost anywhere.

Being in IT I what you mean about doing your job from anywhere, I just feel like a lot of my calls are going to require me to turn on people's machines because they turned them off at the end of the day and cant remote into their work computers, and explaining that I'm not allowed to work on their personal machines.

that's actually exactly what my company did today. test WFH. and then things blew up out of proportions and now we're WFH for the foreseeable future.
