Totally agree. They are a cheap fix. Well not exactly cheap, but cheaper.

You got me curious so I looked to see what Ultra4 says. Doesn't seem they care down to that level. That's not really surprising. They do mention fastener quality but the tech inspection checklist is about safety. The durability of your vehicle is your problem.

    https://ultra4racing.com/rulebook

The thing is Spidertrax is a major sponsor of KOH and wheel spacers are how they started. They do have legitimate applications, like matching track width when doing a solid axle swap. Personally I'd just use the right width and offset wheel if I could.

Lol you guys go ahead and continue thinking you’re all knowing about spacers. Most of you probably drive stock trucks with your only modding knowledge being what you’ve read on here.

I agree, wheels with a proper offset are a better decision over wheel spacers. But wheel spacers are not a dangerous part.

Ok so know you went from they’re “ exactly the fucking same” we’re all idiots to “ wheels with a proper offset are a better decision over spacers” which is it?

I never said anything about people being idiots. Good one though. You should calm down, the internet isn’t a great place to flex your tough guy persona. My original comment was regarding people telling the guy that spacers are bad. I wasn’t detailed in what I said originally. When everyone got so defensive, I clarified my stance on wheel spacers. I’ve run hub-centric spacers on many vehicles from track cars to lifted trucks and I’ve never had any failures. Are aftermarket wheels with a negative offset a better choice? Yes. But sometimes you can’t get the exact offset you need. In my opinion, is it a bad idea to run spacers? No.

I stand corrected you said did say they were “ fucking identical” now it’s better to have the wheel with proper offset. So which is it. I agree misquoted the one part but not the other. I also agree that if they’re torqued properly and loctite used more than likely no issues.

Tire and wheel from Discount Tire, that's the same size tire you have and the rim size and price you're looking for. Had them over two years, no complaints.

What rims are those? They look like Method MR305's, but they don't have any markings.

So rather than continuing to have the same argument about spacers for the 1 millionth time, can we talk this guys down from the ledge before he blows $500 to powdercoat some $300 wheels?

I think we’re on the same page. I should not have said that they’re identical. That is incorrect.

The spacer is fine. It's the overtorqued studs that failed. Next time only 1 ugga-dugga and then a torque wrench.

Alright old man @Cavalry off-Road I just ordered these Motegi MR149s a few minutes ago for $504 for 16”. They weigh 21 lbs so by the time you unload the stock wheels and spacers you’re saving at least 6-7lbs per wheel. A little over your $500 budget but a legitimate upgrade.

Interesting discussion on wheel spacers. There are plenty of us running wheel spacers and offroading our trucks without issue. Unfortunately it is not always easy to find the right wheel with the right offset for certain applications. Most of the more heavily modded trucks such as mine run into those restrictions that others dont think about. For example, how do you fit a 35x12.5+ tire into a wheel well shared by a 12-14" shock, well you need a wheel spacer or new offset, your options in available wheels instantly decline and you'll have to begin to make compromises. When you are spending $2k on wheels and another $2k on tires you and faced with a ton of compromises, wheel spacers are an easy answer.
