I'd be interested in hearing the thoughts from a TRD PRO Owner. I'm wondering if the shocks have any play in the problem. The Beefier FOX Shocks might help the issue?

I finally had enough of my vibration at ~31k miles and replaced my drums and shoes with aftermarket components. The vibration is gone since, but I'll just have to wait to see if it comes back. There is no way that a drum should be warped after 31k miles of not towing or wheeling.

2019 TRD Pro owner and yep got the brake vibration. I thought brakes were just breaking in, but after 3,000 miles still doing it but not all the time. I also have the chugging issue at about 1500 rpm's but that's for another thread. Love the truck though drives like my v-6 mustang! Shocks seem like they keep you attached to the road, rear end doesn't bounce around.

Thanks for the input. My thought process was maybe I could track down some PRO parts and move on.

call from dealer at the end of the day. They explained to me they discovered that one of my axles was bent. This is supposedly coming from the shop foreman.

I don’t really know how to take this. I would think a bent axle would have presented itself much faster and/or be shredding through parts. They also explained that they had discovered differential fluid leaking from the axle bearing that has the bent axle.

Should have an update tomorrow with it all put back together.

Just had my Tacoma in for the 3rd service appt for this issue. They machined the front rotors at 20 000 KM (did nothing) and then replaced rear drums at 28 000 KM which corrected the issue. The vibration came back in about 2 months and they put another set of drums on it yesterday at 30 000 KM. Vibration is gone now. We'll see how long it lasts.

I asked the service tech about the drive line vibration TSB. He said he'd check into it. Came back and said it doesn't apply to my TRD Sport.

I also asked if they have replaced drums on any other Tacoma. He said they put 2 sets on 1 other Tacoma. I suggested it seemed strange to only get 2000 KM out of a set of drums. He shrugged his shoulders and said bring it back it the problem reoccurs and he'll get the service manager involved.

Something must be warping the rotors or the rotors are just junk. They'll figure it out eventually. lol.

There was a member who actually had a tech that actually did some troubleshooting, to which the tech discovered that the pushrod in the master cylinder was either the wrong size (too big) or was incorrectly adjusted. The member claimed after this was corrected it resolved the issue. Everyone else seems to look at the axels as the issues.

Never Never Modify! Keep it aggravation free!
I have this at 18000 miles on my 2019. Its definitely in the back. If I drive at highway speeds and pull up slowly on the parking brake it will vibrate and it feels like the drums are out of round. When I go in for my 20000 mile oil change I will ask them to check it.

Take that 1500 rpm chugging up with your dealership, they’ve been getting a lot of complaints about it lately. They currently have no remedy and will chalk it up as normal, but the more complaints they get hopefully something will happen. It sucks to spend the kind of money we do on these trucks, then have to deal with this crap. Btw I also have the vibrations from 30 down to a stop, with or without brakes.

This is a super common problem.
Ask the dealer to check the rear drums. I had this done on my 2018 and recently on my 2020. Both times this fixed vibrations during deceleration.

its so normal that Toyota has already released a few TSBs to address it. So when the dealer tells you it’s normal, make sure to point out that Toyota has already admitted this is a known problem and that the dealer is expecting you to drive a broken vehicle. Seems like it’s time for a Tacomaworld class action suit.

Seems like I'm not the only one. 2016 4x4 TRDOR V6, at 64,000 miles on the dot I noticed that when I start up the truck with foot on the brake, it doesn't go "errrt" and push the brake pedal up into my foot like it normally has, and now stutters and stays lower than normal. Now I have a significant vibration when half-pressing the brake while coming to a stop, and it shudders around 5-20mph at stop and go. Anyone else notice a sudden change like this? Been riding fine for 63,999 miles.

Just got back from a 600 mile weekend round trip, but other than that just driving on streets.

So while I was rotating tires last night I used a caliper to measure my boss flange. They average 106.1 ish mm The TSB says they should be 108-107.9mm. Do you feel this is enough difference to be causing the issue?

Been done already. The dealership said they could not duplicate. Go figure. On a side note since taking it to the dealership it seems its not doing it as bad.

I spoke to a guy that owns a mobile brake service few years back. Ordered some new drums for an older 4wd Chevy, when he delivered I was told even new drums should be turned. Watched him do the new drums and your enough they were not true. They were brand name made in America, can't recall if they Bosch or Delco.

Dropped off the Tacoma to local service because the vibration really started to get on my nerves. I only have 3000 miles on the truck. not at all satisfied with their response. IMG_2912.jpg
