I’m the first to admit Entune is next to useless, especially with CarPlay/Android. But, I know some owners want and/or use some of the Entune functionality. After several hours of troubleshooting to determine if the head unit was bad, I garnered the following.....
For those who are purchasing a 2020 and have any intention of using Entune 3.0 apps, you can throw your intentions out the window.
Even though Toyota markets Entune 3.0 and the apps, they have removed all Entune 3.0 functionality from the 2020’s, excluding Toyota+Alexa.
The first eight people at Toyota Support did not know this functionality had been removed...finally the ninth person informed me.

Toyota sells a few hundrew thousand Tacomas a year. Most use the radio and Nav. Some use the apps. Very few change the head unit.
It works just fine for me.

I know people are in love with oem, but with the price associated with them, you could get 10 aftermarket units

Android all the way, way better. The 2020 supports this.

Thank you! I do use CarPlay but wanted to see what I could get working wirelessly. Nowhere does it tell you that it no longer supports apps through Entune and what point is Bluetooth connectivity through Entune 3.0 if it has only one compatible app? Why is Toyota so bad at multimedia? Even with CarPlay, after waiting so many years to implement, why didn’t they skip straight to wireless CarPlay? Whoever signs off on their OEM head unit choices (and sh1tty software) should be fired (literally) after being dipped in tar and sprinkled with feathers.

Android has nothing to do with the Entune 3.0 software not being compatible with apps. Yes, you can use Android through USB but you can use iOS as well. This isn’t a Apple vs Android issue.

Yes, you could get 10, but you cant order a new truck without a radio. So the price of a OEM headunit is what you can sell it for, around $4-500.

Indeed, but you got to sell the 2020 units while their hot. Beginning of the model run will net you the highest price.

I kept my entune 2 when I swapped for Android. In the chance my Android dumps, I can swap quick while a new one is on the way.

Ya dont think so. Not only does that incapacitate your phone but they can barely do carplay and android wirelessly

Everyday, sometimes several times a day, I get ''App Suite has to be updated'' notice. There is no way to ignore it. Add then it starts downloading it. ''Detail'' box has no details..

Install Android Auto on your phone from the Google Play Store. Open it up and log in. Then, all you need to do is plug your phone into the USB slot at the bottom of the dash. Click on the "Project" tile on your stereo's screen and you're all set. There's a youtube video or two that walk you through it. Totally useful for running Google Maps and a lot of other functionality.
