Anyone pull the dash power outlet? I want to replace it with a two slot USB port and am too lazy to just tear everything apart to see how it’s built. Is it just snapped in like the surrounding switches? Screwed in place like the replacement outlets or molded into the dash and not really removable.

With one inside the console box I don’t see a need to have tow that will take a lighter plug.

    TIA

It’s just snapped in like the surrounding switches.

Um... it was the hardest mod I've done to my TACO. #2 was getting wires through the door boot. #3 Installing Clazzio Seat covers. G'luck getting it out of the dash. Maybe @Tacospike can give you some pointers... wish I had some before starting. :frusty:

I needed to use the outlet for my iOttie Auto Sense Automatic Clamping Qi Wireless Charging Dashboard Car Phone Mount. Mounted that to the Dashtop Multi Mount (DMM) from TACOGARAGE. Then placed a dual USB-C charging ports in its place. I did, however, get a "lighter" plug with two USB ports for the center console (in case the rear passengers need ports).

What problems did you run into? I swapped out a switch before and if the plug comes out the same as Tacospike says I don’t see a big issue.

Just getting the metal part out of the dash. Taking the connector off is a breeze, but that darn metal socket piece... there's two tabs that you have to "push in" for it to come out. I was just having that hardest time... I ended up taking a pair of needle noise pliers to almost pry it off. Did some damage to the surrounding hole, but it came out... eventually. The new port covers the minor scuffs... so my "frustrations" are hidden. :)
