Assemble a one wire to add to the OEM one just to add the OPENER. One wire for power running parallel to the harness and an additional ground wire to the OPENER solenoid.
Passenger's kick Panel is a whole different issue. Adding a T-harness just for the OPENER to the OEM T-harness...

Do you have some sort of mod installed for this to happen? The only way the tailgate would unlock is when you hit the fob twice with the unlock button. Correct?

Ok. You are correct. I started my truck with my automatic starter, pressed unlock with my fob twice, opened my tailgate, and my truck is still running. This is definitely doable.

It’s once with the Port version that started with SET. It connects on the driver’s side.

Definitely can make this happen if this is what it looks like. Although it would be slightly different than this...

    5A088B25-E17D-42F6-AAA5-7E74D185C9BA.jpg

You would substitute the KTJO Lock-Unlock for the OEM. Therefore, it would be like I mentioned on my thread:

    1) First, you would purchase the Add-On Kit off my website www.ktjo4x4.com mentioning in the comment section that you have the OEM Tailgate Lock Kit. Therefore, you would get my KTJO OEM PNP Harness that would give you the needed connections in order to hookup the KTJO/DSIM Opener Mod.

    2) You would plug that into your Passenger Side Kick Panel Area. Then you would plug your OEM Kit PNP Harness into mine or vice versa. As long as the OEM Kit PNP Harness is just straight wires and nothing is crazy with their harness like wires switching And crossing paths, you could plug mine into theirs and it wouldn’t matter.

    3) You wouldn’t mess with your Tailgate Lock-Unlock Connections at all. You’d leave them connected to your OEM PNP Harness however Toyota has them connected. What would be different with your Kit is that I would send you my Tailgate Lock Integrated Harness which is only Two Wires instead of sending you the Tailgate Opener Integrated Harness which is Four Wires. With you already having the Lock-Unlock hooked up to the other PNP Harness, we are only needing to connect the Opener side Actuator with the Blue and Green Wire that you see in this diagram here.

    DC6B4FF2-8F1E-4526-9F30-A8F7C813FCDF.jpg

    4) This step would be to connect the wires. So you would take your Opener Actuator from the Add-On Kit you purchased from me, and connect the Green Wire to the Purple Wire on the Tailgate Opener Module V2 and the Blue Wire to the Black Wire on the KTJO OEM PNP Harness. Now if I get enough of you interested in the Tailgate Opener, I’d rather just make a Custom PNP Wire Harness like I have for the Opener Integrated Harness and change out the Wire Color half way to help you guys out which I might do anyways tbh so there’s no confusion. It would be kind of like this to give you an idea from the Opener Harness

    1F9CD7A3-9BBE-4317-925F-99C77747DB67.jpg

    5) The final step would be for you to connect the last three wires from the KTJO PNP Harness directly time the Tailgate Opener Module V2. So you have Red goes to Red, Black goes to Black, and Green goes to Green. You would technically have two wires remaining on my PNP Harness due to the fact that you wouldn’t be using the Green and Blue wire for the Tailgate Lock. (Don’t worry, you could always use those for another mod that will be released ;))

    THE END

So that’s how you would convert it to make the Opener work with the OEM Tailgate Lock Kit.

So am I correct in assuming your remote starter is an aftermarket model, not OEM?

If memory serves - there is NO remote starter offered for the Tacoma by Toyota. There are ONLY aftermarket solutions, which function JUST like Toyota solutions found in their other models.

I suggest this for those who already bought and installed the OEM Tailgate Lock:
    Remove the covering...

    upload_2020-3-13_8-15-1.jpg

    You sell them this:

    upload_2020-3-13_8-16-19.jpg

    And they do this:

    upload_2020-3-13_8-17-4.jpg

    And you get this:

    upload_2020-3-13_8-26-21.jpg

P.S. The 4 place connector can be the same as the one for the tailgate camera. But I suggest the DRL connector since it's all black.

I installed the tailgate lock from BAM wholesale today. It was just as easy as everyone said and not much louder than the door locks. I would definitely recommend this mod. Mine is a 2017 off road and had no issues.

Okay, I received the package today. Apparently, there’s a piece of paper that explains how to lock and unlock. Where is the instruction?

I think this is great if everyone knows how to Depin correctly, cut, crimp, etc, etc. You know. I agree 100%. Otherwise, I’d keep it simple. I’d want to do the least amount of work as possible plus I’d want to make it so that in the future it would be able to be reversible if I wanted to make changes.

    2C3469AA-8637-487D-8A33-B34D77C3DD0E.jpg

    You have 2 Options:

Option 1: Add 2 connectors onto the Lock and Unlock Wires in the cab and leave the rest alone with their harness.

Option 2: Do nothing with your Harness and plug it into mine inside the cab and Purchase my Tailgate Opener OEM “Ultimate” Add-On Kit Only when I release it.

I still wonder sometimes. I definitely think it should be easier than they make some of these connectors. I always appreciate your drawings and ideas. Is that a Junction Block?

Yes Sir!!! That is how the Opener functions off the Unlock mechanism on our Truck. Once you hit the Key Fob three times, then that will activate the Tailgate Opener V2 Module

    Plug In no mods.
Unlocks Passenger's DOOR at same time as Driver's (with or without the Smart Handle on the Passenger's side)
Adds the Tailgate Open (after unlocking)
Pay attention to order of added harnesses...
